The Seven Deadly Sins Of Modern Times
''The Seven Deadly Sins of Modern Times'' (1993) is an acrylic painting on a wooden table by the contemporary Australian artist Susan Dorothea White, where she proposes that today's deadly sins are the opposite of the original ones. Inspired by the composition and design of ''The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things'' by Hieronymus Bosch, White has described her depiction of the inverses; for example, gluttony is supplanted by "dieting", and " sucking up" stands in for envy. In the depiction of each of these deadly sins is an animal or plant which has been introduced to Australia to ill effect, as the cockroach represents squandering and a feral water buffalo demonstrates indifference. Seven Deadly Sins
The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, is a grouping and classification of vices within Christian teachings. Although they are not directly mentioned in the Bible, there are parallels with the seven things God is said to hate in the Book of Proverbs. Behaviours or habits are classified under this category if they directly give rise to other immoralities. According to the standard list, they are Hubris, pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, Gluttony#Christianity, gluttony and sloth (deadly sin), sloth, which are contrary to the seven heavenly virtues, seven capital virtues. This classification originated with the Desert Fathers, especially Evagrius Ponticus. ''The Seven Deadly Sins'' (Nanatsu no Taizai / 七つの大罪) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki. The series follows Elizabeth, the third princess of the Kingdom of Liones, who is in search of the Seven Deadly Sins, a group of former Holy Knights who were disbanded after the kingdom was overthrown. The Dubliners were an Folk music of Ireland, Irish folk band founded in Dublin in 1962 as The Ronnie Drew Ballad Group, named after its founding member; they subsequently renamed themselves The Dubliners. Living Dead Dolls is a line of horror dolls first produced as handmades in 1998 in the United States by Ed Long and Damien Glonek, and commercially manufactured by Mezco Toyz since 2000. Concept Living Dead Dolls are ten inches tall, made of plastic, with fabric clothing, and come packed in coffin-shaped boxes with death certificates. Each doll has a different cause of death, which is usually described in doggerel verse on the certificate. While the dolls are occasionally inspired by real people such as Lizzie Borden, they are described explicitly as dolls, not representations of actual dead children, and are aimed at an adult audience aged upwards of 15 years.
