Teddington Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Teddington School, Teddington in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The club is one of the oldest in the world after being formed in 1871; the club advertise that they are the oldest in the world but the claim is disputed by the Blackheath Hockey Club. Teddington runs a large number of teams including eight men's team and seven women's teams. The Men's first X1 play in the Men's England Hockey League Division One South. The men's team have been champions of England on one occasion (1994–95). Teddington School
Teddington is a suburb in south-west London in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. In 2021, Teddington was named as the best place to live in London by ''The Sunday Times''. Historically in Middlesex, Teddington is situated on a long meander of the Thames between Hampton Wick and Strawberry Hill, Twickenham. Mostly residential, it stretches from the river to Bushy Park with a long high street of shops, restaurants and pubs. There is a suspension bridge over the lowest non-tidal lock on the Thames, Teddington Lock. At Teddington's centre is a mid-rise urban development, containing offices and apartments. Economy Teddington is bisected by an almost continuous road of shops, offices and other facilities running from the river to Bushy Park. Calum Giles
Calum Giles (born 27 October 1972) in Portsmouth, England) is a former Great Britain Olympic field hockey player, who competed in the British squad at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He went on to play another two years of international hockey before deciding to retire at the end of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Hockey career Giles started his hockey career at the age of 5 playing for OPCS in Portsmouth. He made his national league debut at the age of 18 playing for Havant Hockey Club in 1991 and his International debut at the age of 23 playing for England in 1995. He has played club hockey in England, the Netherlands as well as Bloemfontein, South Africa and Sydney Australia. Giles retired from International hockey in 2000 to pursue his coaching career and became a full-time player-coach to Oxted. Chua Boon Huat
Chua Boon Huat (3 May 1980 – 1 August 2013) was a field hockey player from Bukit Cina, Malacca, Malaysia. Boon Huat was one of the longest serving hockey players in Malaysia. Career Club He was with Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club for 10 years and part of 'the double' winners for three consecutive seasons. In April 2002 Boon Huat take up an offer to play in the German League. During his stint, he did not disappoint his club, Red And White Munich. During his three-month stint in Germany, Boon Huat scored seven goals in nine matches, all field goals. In 2005 he joined English Hockey League's Premier Division, Teddington Hockey Club. His last overseas stint was in New Zealand in 2008, when he played for the Auckland club. Rob Moore (field Hockey)
Robert Stephen "Rob" Moore (born 21 May 1981) is an English field hockey player. Moore is amongst the most capped England players and was a key part of the team that picked up a silver medal at the Champions Trophy 2010 and a gold medal at the European Cup 2009. He appeared in the 2012 London Olympics. Early career Moore is from Winchester, England. He went to school at King Edward VI, Southampton and studied economics at University of Nottingham. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League.
