TVN (Polish TV Channel)
TVN (Polish pronunciation: ) is a Polish free-to-air television station, network and a media and entertainment group in Poland. It was co-founded by Polish businessmen Mariusz Walter, Jan Wejchert and Swiss entrepreneur Bruno Valsangiacomo. It is owned by TVN Group, which as of April 2022, is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery. Current CEO is Kasia Kieli (who is also president and managing director of TVN Warner Bros. Discovery). TVN is available by satellite, cable television and digital terrestrial television. In 2004, with its debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, the company became a public limited company. In March 2015, U.S. broadcaster Scripps Networks Interactive bought a 52.7% majority stake in TVN for €584 million. In July 2015, SNI bought out TVN's remaining owners, ITI Group and Canal+ Group, for €584 million, giving it full ownership. Media Business Centre (Warsaw)
Media Business Centre (MBC) is a building located at ''166 Wiertnicza Street'' in Warsaw, Poland. It is located in the part of Warsaw commonly known as Sadyba, on the administrative border of the Mokotów and Wilanów districts). It is the headquarters of the TVN Group and a large part of its companies. It was built in 2002. There are two newsrooms in the building. The upper one (on the scale of the whole building located on the first floor, also equipped with mezzanines) is the location of production and broadcasting of TVN (Poland), TVN's news program Fakty TVN, Fakty and most of TVN24's programmes. The lower one (on the ground floor) serves as editorial office of TVN24 Biznes i Świat, sometimes it also serves as a reserve or weekend studio of TVN24. Cartoon Network (Polish TV Channel)
Cartoon Network is a Polish pay television channel aimed at children, which launched in 1998 as a localised feed of the U.S. television network of the same name. The channel is owned by TVN Group, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery. History Cartoon Network Poland was launched on 1 June 1998 replacing Cartoon Network Europe. On 30 September 2002, the channel began airing in Hungary and Romania, thus sharing its video feed with those countries while adding two additional audio tracks in Hungarian and Romanian. On 1 March 2007, Cartoon Network Poland started broadcasting 24 hours a day. On 1 October 2008, a separate feed of Cartoon Network was created for Hungary and Romania, while the two additional audio tracks that were previously to the channel added in September 2002 were moved there. Satellite television is a service that delivers television programming to viewers by relaying it from a communications satellite orbiting the Earth directly to the viewer's location. The signals are received via an outdoor parabolic antenna commonly referred to as a satellite dish and a low-noise block downconverter. A satellite receiver then decodes the desired television program for viewing on a television set. Receivers can be external set-top boxes, or a built-in television tuner. Jan Bohdan Wejchert (; 5 January 1950 – 31 October 2009) was a Polish businessman and media mogul. He had a net worth of $1.3 billion (Forbes) Wejchert was the co-founder of the ITI Group, one of Poland's largest media groups, as well as the co-founder and co-owner of the TVN (Poland), TVN television network. Television in Poland was introduced in 1937. It was state owned, and was interrupted by the Second World War in 1939. Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971.
