Kumasi
Kumasi (historically spelled Comassie or Coomassie, usually spelled Kumase in Twi) is a city in the Ashanti Region, and is among the largest metropolitan areas in Ghana. Kumasi is located in a rain forest region near Lake Bosomtwe, and is the commercial, industrial, and cultural capital of the historical Ashanti Empire. Kumasi is approximately north of the Equator and north of the Gulf of Guinea. Kumasi is alternatively known as "The Garden City" because of its many species of flowers and plants in the past. Atsu Nyamadi (born 1 June 1994, in Anloga) is a Ghanaian athlete competing in the decathlon. He won medals at the 2014 African Championships and 2015 African Games. Education In Ghana
Before the arrival of European settlers, who introduced a formal education system addressed to the elites, education in Ghana was mainly informal and based on apprenticeship. Economic activities in pre-colonial Ghana were based on farm produce shared within households and members of each household specialized in providing necessities such as cooking utilities, shelter, clothing, and furniture, and trade with other households was therefore practiced on a very small scale. As such there was no need for employment outside the household that would have otherwise called for disciplines, values, and skills through a formal education system. After colonization, Ghana's economy became a hybrid of subsistence and formal economy. Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, " Do the Reggay" was the first popular song to use the word "reggae", effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. Mariama Owusu
Mariama Owusu is a Ghanaian judge. She has been on the bench since 1990 and was nominated a judge of the Supreme Court Judge in November 2019. She was sworn in on 17 December 2019 after gaining parliamentary approval. Early life and education Owusu was born on 18 November 1954. She was born in Daloa but hails from Beposo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She received her primary and middle school education at Asawase L/A Primary and Middle School, completing it in 1968. She continued her studies at T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School from 1968 to 1975, earning both her Ordinary and Advanced Level certificates. 1974 British Commonwealth Games
The 1974 British Commonwealth Games ( mi, 1974 Taumāhekeheke Commonwealth) were held in Christchurch, New Zealand from 24 January to 2 February 1974. The bid vote was held in Edinburgh at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games. The Games were officially named "the friendly games". There were 1,276 competitors and 372 officials, according to the official history, and public attendance was excellent.
