Søyr Members
Søyr (established 1976 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian musical group, led from the start of trumpeter Torgrim Sollid. Biography Søyr was initially inspired by folk music from Stor-Elvdal (among others Ole Mørk Sandvik) and released the album ''Søyr'' (1977) and ''Cierny Peter'' (1983), and performed at Kongsberg Jazzfestival 1977. The band is still active, and was involved on tour in South Africa in the summer of 2004. The Free State «Søyr» was established in Moldejazz 1997. The band moved (with leader Sollid) to Oslo and assumed a more avant-garde style with a big band flair. Dag Arnesen was in the lineup 1981–82, and also Kenny Wheeler played within Søyr for four years. «Nye Søyr» released compositions by Vidar Johansen, Rune Klakegg, Torgrim Sollid, Rob Waring and Jon Balke på platen ''Vectors'' (1988) with the original lineup. Trondheim
Trondheim ( , , ; sma, Tråante), historically Kaupangen, Nidaros and Trondhjem (), is a city and municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Eldbjørg Raknes
Eldbjørg Raknes (born 9 February 1970 in Midsund, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz vocalist known for her a cappella vocal performances, innovative improvised vocals and electronic effects. She has collaborated with musicians such as Jon Balke, Anders Jormin, Bendik Hofseth, Christian Wallumrød, Arve Henriksen, Ketil Bjørnstad, and Ståle Storløkken. She is the sister of the bassist Steinar Raknes. Stor-Elvdal
Stor-Elvdal is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Østerdalen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Koppang. Other villages in the municipality include Atna, Evenstad, and Sollia. The municipality is the 28th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Stor-Elvdal is the 262nd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 2,318. Norwegians

Torstein Lofthus
Torstein Lofthus (born 10 March 1977) is a Norwegian drummer and composer who has been a member of the bands Shining, Elephant9, the Mathias Eick Band, D'Sound, and Ebersson/Zanussi/Lofthus. He is married to Hege Lofthus. Career Lofthus has had a major influence on Norwegian music through studio work, live concerts and teaching at Norwegian Academy of Music and at University of Agder (the Faculty of Fine Arts). Based in Oslo, he now tours Norway and Europe with different bands and artists after finishing his master at the Norwegian Academy of Music spring 2006. He plays several genres, well known with both jazz and pop music. Børge Petersen-Øverleir
Børge Petersen-Øverleir (born 3 February 1967 in Hemnesberget, Norway) is a Norwegian guitarist, raised in Bergen and Bodø, early active in heavy rock, autodidact in jazz centered around in Bodø. Biography Petersen-Øverleir has collaborated on several recordings, including with Jan Gunnar Hoff, Henning Gravrok and Tore Johansen, as well as in trio with Tore Johansen and Arild Andersen. Erling Aksdal
Erling Aksdal Jr. (born 18 February 1953 in Molde, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer, known from playing with the likes of Warne Marsh, Chet Baker, Herb Pomeroy, Bob Mover, Mick Goodrick, Ralph Moore, Lee Konitz, John Pål Inderberg and Bjørn Alterhaug, and writing the commissioned works for Moldejazz in 1980 and 1995. Career Aksdal was educated at the Berklee College of Music (1977–80), and earned a master's degree in Jazz and Contemporary Improvisationat at the New England Conservatory in Boston (1984). He has since 1991 taught on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium, where he is Head of the Jazz Performance Programme (directing manager until 2005). Christian Jaksjø
Christian Jaksjø (born 18 December 1973 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (trombone and euphonium) and composer, mostly jazz where he since 1999 has been part of Bob Brookmeyer «New Art Orchestra» releasing the album ''New Works'' (1999, this years jazz album in England). Biography Jaksjø was recipient of the soloist award at the big band festival in Imatra, Finland 1992. He studied music on the jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1992–96) where was the leader of Kjellerbandet for a period. He later studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1996–99) and composed music for the Danmarks Radio Storband. Jaksjø has also appeared nationally, as in Magni Wentzel Sextet, Søyr, Geir Lysne Listening ensemble, Oslo Groove Company.
