Stjernen Hockey
Stjernen Hockey is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in Fredrikstad, Norway. They currently play in the GET-ligaen. They play their home games in Stjernehallen. Their team colours are red and white. History Stjernen was founded in 1960 when the boys club "the Star" simply translated their name to Norwegian to comply with the rules of the association to begin play in the league system. After ten years of playing on an outdoor rink, or hiring ice time from local rivals Sparta Warriors, Stjernen got their own arena in 1970 when Stjernehallen was officially opened. With a good youth organisation to go with the new facilities, Stjernen soon started to climb in the leagues and in 1974 they reached the first division for the first time in club history. In 1981, the club saw its finest day beating Vålerenga Ishockey 2–1 in the best of three play-off final becoming the first team outside Oslo to hoist the cup. Fredrikstad
Fredrikstad (; previously ''Frederiksstad''; literally "Fredrik's Town") is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad. The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see '' formannskapsdistrikt''). The rural municipality of Glemmen was merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1964. The rural municipalities of Borge, Onsøy, Kråkerøy, and Rolvsøy were merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1994. 2014–15 GET-ligaen Season
The 2014–15 GET-ligaen is the 76th and current season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, Eliteserien (known as GET-ligaen for sponsorship reasons). The regular season began play on September 11, 2014, and was concluded on March 3, 2015,. The playoffs to determine the 2014 Norwegian Ice Hockey Champions began on March 6, and ended April 18, 2015. Participating teams Team changes * Rosenborg failed to renew its professional license to play in the GET-liga. The vacant spot was given to Manglerud Star. * Due to the struggling economy, the board of the Tønsberg Vikings asked that the team was to be moved down one division. Johan Olsson (ice Hockey)
Johan Olsson (born 20 February 1978) is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward currently playing for Stjernen of Norway's GET-ligaen Olsson started his professional career with hometown club Färjestads BK and in his first season with the team, 1996/97, the team won the Swedish Championship. The following season the team won the Championship again. But Olsson did not play many games in the two season and decide to leave to club and signed with the Norwegian club Stjernen. Olsson had a really good season in Norway scoring 38 points in 44 games. That made some clubs in Sweden interested of him and he signed with second league club Mora IK in the summer of 1999. But he only stayed for one year with Mora before he signed with Tranås AIF (also a second league club), but he was successful there either and left the club after one year. Pål Grotnes
Pål Grotnes (born 7 March 1977 in Lørenskog, Norway) is a Norwegian professional ice hockey player, who plays for Stjernen and Norway's national team as a goaltender. Playing career Grotnes was born in Norway and raised in Sweden, where his mother was from. He began playing hockey at the age of four as his brother, two years older than Grotnes, wanted to play. Prior to the 2008–09 season he signed with Stjernen in the Norwegian GET-league, after having played two seasons with Comet. In 2008 he backstopped Comet to the semifinals for the first time in franchise history. Since then he has played two seasons for the Stjernen Hockey team, which he led to the quarter-finals in 2009-10. Stjernan was defeated by Sparta. International career 2006 Grotnes is the starting goaltender for Norway in the 2006 IIHF World Championship. 2017–18 GET-ligaen Season
The 2017–18 GET-ligaen was the 79th season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, GET-ligaen. The regular season began in September 2017. There was no team changes from the 2016–17 season. Participating teams } Arenas On the season opener September 8, Vålerenga Ishockey played Storhamar Hockey in Gjøvik Olympic Cavern Hall. Since Nye Jordal Amfi will not be completed until the 2019–20 season, Vålerenga used Furuset Forum as a temporary arena the whole season. Previous to Vålerengas match against Storhamar November 13, Furuset Forums capacity was 1,450. Lillehammer returned to Håkons Hall on November 18, when they met Storhamar in front of a crowd of 10,031 people, which was new indoor attendance record for a Norwegian league match. The 2016–17 GET-ligaen was the 78th season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, GET-ligaen. The regular season began play in September 2016. There were no team changes from the 2015–16 season. Participating teams } Arenas Vålerenga Ishockey played their last home game at Jordal Amfi on January 7. A new arena will be constructed at the site, planned for completion in September 2018. Vålerenga will finish the season with Furuset Forum as a temporary arena. Regular season Winter Classic An outdoor match featuring Stjernen and Sparta Warriors was played January 21, 2017. The match was played on Fredrikstad stadion and was the first major outdoor match in Norway in the 21st century. The match ended with a 3-0 victory for Sparta in front of a record audience of 12.500.
