St Augustine College of South Africa is a private tertiary academic institution in Johannesburg, South Africa. History Shortly after the formal establishment of the Catholic hierarchy in South Africa in 1951, it was first proposed to found a Catholic university in the country. The idea was taken a step further in 1993 when a discussion group – initiated by Professor Emmanuel Ngara, then the Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Fort Hare University, and including Catholic academics, clergy and business persons – began seriously to consider the matter. In June 1997, a Board of Trustees was constituted to guide the process, and, in November 1997, a Section 21 Company (not for profit) was registered. St Augustine's and Our Lady of Good Counsel College (''Coláiste na Dea Comhairle''), New Ross, known as "Good Counsel College" by its students and residents of the local area, is an all-boys secondary school in County Wexford, Ireland, which caters for over 850 students. It was founded and is now conducted by the Irish Augustinians. It is one of only two secondary schools in Ireland under the order of the Augustinians, with the other being in Dungarvan, Co. St. Augustine's Catholic College is an independent Catholic secondary school in the town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England. The school has a sixth form for years 12 and 13. The school opened on its site in the western suburbs of Trowbridge in 1967. Previously a voluntary aided school, it has been an academy since September 2011. When inspected by Ofsted in November 2021, the school was assessed as 'requires improvement' in all categories. This was its first inspection after conversion to an academy, since the academy inherited an 'outstanding' rating from its predecessor and was therefore exempt from inspection for a while. St Augustine’s College in Canterbury, Kent, United Kingdom, was located within the precincts of St Augustine's Abbey about 0.2 miles (335 metres) ESE of Canterbury Cathedral. It served first as a missionary college of the Church of England (1848–1947) and later as the Central College of the Anglican Communion (1952–1967). In response, the Church of England sent clergy, but the demand for them to serve overseas exceeded supply. Colonial bishoprics were established, but the bishops were without clergy.
