Spry is a census-designated place (CDP) in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,891 at the 2010 census. Geography Spry is located at (39.912566, -76.687216) in York Township, south of the city of York. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , all of it land. Demographics At the 2000 census there were 4,903 people, 2,125 households, and 1,411 families living in the CDP. The population density was 1,902.7 people per square mile (733.7/km). There were 2,204 housing units at an average density of 855.3/sq mi (329.8/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.15% White, 1.51% African American, 0.12% Native American, 1.20% Asian, 0.14% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. Spry Vegetable Shortening
Spry was a brand of vegetable shortening produced by Lever Brothers starting in 1936. It was a competitor for Procter & Gamble's Crisco, and through aggressive marketing through its mascot Aunt Jenny had reached 75 percent of Crisco's market share. The marketing efforts were phased out in the 1950s, but Aunt Jenny and her quotes like ''With Spry, we can afford to have cake oftener!'' have been reprinted. Though the product is discontinued in most countries, there are anecdotal reports of its being used through the 1970s. Internet-in-a-Box is a low cost digital library, consisting of a wireless access point with storage, which users nearby can connect to. Its realization in hardware and software has changed since 2012, as miniaturization of storage space and electronics progressed. Spry Framework
The Spry Framework is an open source Ajax framework developed by Adobe Systems which is used in the construction of Rich Internet applications. Unlike other pure JavaScript frameworks such as the Dojo Toolkit and Prototype, Spry is geared towards web designers, not web developers. On August 29, 2012, Adobe announced that it would no longer continue development of Spry and handed it over to the community on GitHub.
