Southwest Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The Southwest Conference men's basketball tournament, also called the SWC Classic, was the conference championship tournament in men's basketball for the Southwest Conference. The tournament was held annually between 1976 and 1996, after which the Southwest Conference was dissolved. The winner of the tournament was guaranteed a spot in the NCAA basketball tournament each year. Rob Williams (basketball)
Robert Aaron Williams (May 5, 1961 – March 10, 2014), was an American professional basketball player who was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the first round (19th pick overall) of the 1982 NBA draft. A 6-foot-2 point guard from the University of Houston, Williams played in two National Basketball Association (NBA) seasons for the Nuggets. When Williams reported to Denver's training camp as a rookie, he was badly out of shape, prompting Nuggets coach Doug Moe to describe Williams as "a fat little hog". Williams' collegiate career included a trip to the 1982 NCAA Final Four, where his Houston Cougars, better known as Phi Slama Jama, fell to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the National Semifinals. David Britton (basketball)
David Britton (born August 26, 1958) is an American former basketball player. He played college basketball for Texas A&M University where he was named MVP of the 1980 Southwest Conference men's basketball tournament. Early years David Britton was born in Harlem, New York at St Luke Hospital to Theodore and Verdelle Britton on August 29, 1958. He attended John F. Kennedy High School in The Bronx. Sidney Alvin Moncrief (born September 21, 1957) is an American former professional basketball player. As an NCAA college basketball player from 1975 to 1979, Moncrief played for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, leading them to the 1978 Final Four and a win in the NCAA Consolation Game versus #6 Notre Dame.
