Albret Skeel
Albret Skeel (23 November 1572 – 9 April 1639) was a Denmark, Danish nobleman who held the office of Admiral of the Realm from 1616 to 1623. Early life and travels The son of Privy Councillor Christian Skeel, Albret Skeel was born at Fussingø on 23 November 1572. He attended Viborg School from the age of 9 and until 1585 when he was sent abroad to further his education, studying in Strasbourg, Padova and Siena before returning home by way of France and England. Back in Denmark, Skeel was appointed squire at King Christian IV of Denmark, Christian IV's court. In 1597 he escorted the king on his journey to Brandenburg to marry Anne Catherine of Brandenburg, and the following year the king's brother, Duke Ulrik, on a journey to France, England and Scotland. In 1599 he was appointed royal cup-bearer and over the next few years accompanied the king on several more journeys. Caroline Anne James Skeel (9 February 1872 – 25 February 1951) was a British historian. She was a professor of history at Westfield College, and is remembered for her work in Welsh social and economic history. The library at Westfield was named after her in 1971. Early years and education Skeel was born in Hampstead, London, the sixth of the seven children of William James Skeel (1822–1899), a physician and wealthy investor, and Anne (1831–1895). Both parents came from Pembrokeshire, Wales – her father being from Castle Hill in the parish of Haycastle, and her mother's parents came from Clarbeston. Skeel studied at a private school, and spent three years in South Hampstead High School and Notting Hill High School between 1884 and 1890. With 12 others from Notting Hill High School, she studied at Girton College, Cambridge, having entered in 1891. Ingeborg Skeel
Ingeborg Skeel (c. 1545 – 17 October 1604) was a Denmark, Danish noblewoman, a major land owner and a county sheriff in the Vendsyssel region of northern Jutland, Denmark. She resided at Voergaard Castle, Voergaard, a large estate which she expanded into a fine Renaissance architecture, Renaissance castle between 1588 and 1591. A skilled business women, she personally managed her estates and held several lifelong endowments. In her own day, she had an infamous reputation for greed and cruelty but there is no historical evidence for any of the rumours associated with her name.
