Shooting At The 2023 Pan American Games
Shooting competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile are scheduled to be held between October 21 and 27, 2023 at the Polígono de Tiro de Pudahuel. 15 medal events are scheduled to be contested. Six for men, six for women and three mixed gender events. A total of 244 sport shooters will qualify to compete at the games. The top shooter, not already qualified, in rifle and pistol individual events, together with the top two shooters, not already qualified, in shotgun individual events, will qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Qualification A total of 244 sport shooters will qualify to compete. Each nation may enter a maximum of 24 athletes (two per each individual event). There will be three qualification events for shooters to qualify. There will be no quotas awarded for the mixed events, as nations must use already qualified athletes to compete in them. Fernanda Russo
Fernanda Russo (born October 2, 1999 in Córdoba) is an Argentine sport shooter. She won a silver medal in the air rifle at the 2015 Pan American Games, and also shared a runner-up prize with Mexico's José Santos Valdes in the mixed international rifle team at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. Russo made her first Olympic team for Argentina as a fourteen-year-old at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, claiming the silver medal in shooting. In her first event, the girls' 10 m air rifle, she shot 406.9 points to finish thirteenth from a field of twenty but missed out on a chance to compete in the final. Sagen Maddalena ( ; born 16 August 1993) is a soldier and an American sport shooter. She represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She currently lives in Groveland, California. She is a sergeant in the United States Army and serves as a shooter/instructor with the international team of the Army Marksmanship Unit. Career Maddalena got her start in competitive precision shooting on the state team as a California Grizzlies junior team member, competing in service rifle and being team captain. Vincent Charles Hancock (born March 19, 1989, in Port Charlotte, Florida) is an American shooter and Olympian who won the gold medal in the men's skeet at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing (with a then Olympic record), 2012 Summer Olympics in London and 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
