State Register Of Heritage Places
The State Register of Heritage Places is the heritage register of historic sites in Western Australia deemed significant at the state level by the Heritage Council of Western Australia. History In the 1970s, following its establishment of the National Trust of Western Australia, the National Trust created a set of classified properties, and following legislation requiring inventories, Local Government authorities in Western Australia produced a subsequent set of Municipal Inventories, which then resulted in items then being included in the state register. As a result most register records include dates and details from the three different processes. In some cases authorities other than councils had governance over localities such as ''Redevelopment'' authorities, and they also provided Heritage Inventories in that stage of the process. Registration was not always a successful protection. The Mitchells Building on Wellington Street was State heritage listed in 2004 but demoli ...

Kulyaling, Western Australia
Kulyaling, formerly Kulyalling, is a small town just off the Great Southern Highway located between Brookton and Pingelly in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. A railway siding named Westbrook was the origin of the town. The siding was established in 1905 and then the local progress association petitioned for a townsite to be declared. The townsite was gazetted in 1906 as Westbrook but the Lands Department sought to change the name as Westbrook was already in use. Two Aboriginal names were considered; Nimbedilling and Colyalling. The name was changed and the town was gazetted in 1907. Dattening is a small town in the Shire of Pingelly, between Boddington and Pingelly in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. During the 1890s a farmer named Norris Taylor sunk a well in the locality and the area was initially known as Taylor's Well. By 1906 the local progress association petitioned for a townsite to be surveyed and blocks were subdivided in 1907. Blocks were sold in 1908 with 20 "working men's blocks" being put on the market with prices between £8 and £14. The name, Dattening, was suggested as an alternative to Taylor's Well after this name had been rejected because it duplicated the name of a town in South Australia.
