Semi-automatic Shotguns
A semi-automatic shotgun is a repeating shotgun with a semi-automatic action, i.e. capable of automatically chambering a new shell after each firing, but requires individual trigger-pull to manually actuate each shot. Semi-automatic shotguns use gas-, blowback or recoil operation to cycle the action, eject the empty shell, and load another round. Many semi-automatic shotguns also provide an optional manual means of operation such as by pump action or a charging handle. Examples Notable semi-automatic shotguns include: *Akdal MKA 1919 * Armsel Striker-12 *Baikal MP-153 *Benelli M1014 *Beretta 1301 * Beretta AL391 *Beretta Xtrema 2 *Browning Auto-5 *Daewoo USAS-12 * Franchi Special Purpose Shotgun 12 *Franchi SPAS-15 *High Standard Model 10 *Ithaca Mag-10 *IWI Tavor TS12 *Mossberg 9200 *Mossberg 930 *Remington Model 1100 *Remington Model 11-87 *Remington Model SP-10 *Saiga-12 ("''Сайга-12''") *Sjögren shotgun * Smith & Wesson Model 1000 *SRM Arms Model 1216 *Vepr-12 * ...

Beretta Xtrema 2
The Beretta A391-Xtrema2 is a semi-automatic shotgun developed and produced by Italian firearm manufacturer Beretta. It is used by hunters and target shooters, mainly in the United States. The shotgun is commonly referred to simply as the Xtrema2. The shotgun is found in several variants, depending on barrel length, barrel type, and factory-installed camouflage Camouflage is the use of any combination of materials, coloration, or illumination for concealment, either by making animals or objects hard to see, or by disguising them as something else. Examples include the leopard's spotted coat, the b ... exterior. Overview The Xtrema was released in mid-2004, to answer the call from hunters and target shooters for a complete do-all shotgun. Beretta's goal was to produce a shotgun that could reliably fire 2¾” loaded with light target loads all the way through the 3½” super magnum round without any modification or settings to be dealt with. They decided to take the AL391 ...

Saiga-12
The Saiga-12 () is a shotgun available in a wide range of configurations, patterned after the Kalashnikov series of rifles and named after the Saiga antelope native to Russia. Like the Kalashnikov rifle variants, it is a rotating bolt, long-stroke gas piston operated firearm that feeds from a box magazine. All Saiga-12 configurations are recognizable as Kalashnikov-pattern guns by the large lever-safety on the right side of the receiver, the optic mounting rail on the left side of the receiver and the large top-mounted dust cover held in place by the rear of the recoil spring assembly. Saiga firearms are meant for civilian domestic sale in Russia, and export to international markets. The Saiga-12 is manufactured by the Kalashnikov Concern (the merger of Izhmash and Izhevsk), in Russia. Kalashnikov Concern also manufactures Saiga 20s and Saiga 410s in 20-gauge and .410 bore, as well as the Saiga semi-automatic hunting rifles in a number of centerfire calibers. Russian armed f ...

Remington Model 11-87
The Remington Model 11-87 is a semi-automatic shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms and based on the earlier Model 1100. The Model 11-87 remains in contemporary production, years after being introduced in 1987. Design The Model 11-87 is a gas operated semi-automatic shotgun. Upon firing a shell, some of the high-pressure gases from the burning gunpowder are diverted through two small holes under the barrel, forcing the bolt toward the buttstock, which in turn ejects the spent shell. A spring then forces the bolt forward, sending a new shell from the magazine into the chamber. This gas operation has the effect of reducing the recoil felt by the shooter, since the total recoil energy is spread out over a longer period of time than would be the case with fixed-breech shotguns. The Model 11-87 incorporates a self-compensating gas system design, which allows the gun to operate with a range of loads, from light shells to Magnum shells, without any adjustment by the operator. It ...

Remington Model 1100
The Remington 1100 is a gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun introduced by Remington Arms in 1963. History Designed by Wayne Leek and Robert Kelley, the Remington Model 1100 was introduced in 1963 as a successor to the Model 58 and Model 878 gas operated shotguns.Wallack, LR. "Sixty Million Guns". 1983. In ''Gun Digest Treasury'', Harold A. Murtz, editor, DBI Books. 1994 p.193 The Model 58 had supplanted the recoil operated Model 11-48, which retained the long recoil action of John Browning's original design, present in the Model 11 and the Browning Auto-5. Upon its introduction in 1963, the Model 1100 replaced the Model 58 and Model 878, and later replaced the Model 11-48 as well. All models of the series are gas operated with a mechanism that noticeably reduces recoil. As of 1983, it was the best selling autoloading shotgun in U.S. history, in dollar terms. A plain version of the Model 1100 in 12 gauge, named the Sportsman 12 Auto, was sold in stores such as Target, Kmart ...

Ithaca Mag-10
The Ithaca Mag-10 was the world’s first 10 GA semi-automatic gas-operated shotgun chambered in 10-gauge (3½"). The CounterCoil system built into the front of the magazine tube reduced the recoil from the round to allow easier second shots but cut the magazine size in half to 2 shells. Regular models had jeweled-finish bolts, engraved barrels and checkered stocks. It was produced until 1989, at which point Remington Arms bought the design and used it as the basis for the Remington Model SP-10. Variants Roadblocker—Special Purpose Police Shotgun The Roadblocker version of the Mag-10 was designed by Ithaca for the law enforcement market and became available from 1978 until 1986 (although no mention of the Roadblocker version in Ithaca catalogs after 1981), but met with little commercial success. The Roadblocker was advertised with both a 20" and 22" (which actually measured out to 21¾") barrels. The option of a plain or vent barrel was also available. The shotgun had a parker ...

High Standard Model 10
The High Standard Model 10 (HS10) is a gas operated, semi-automatic shotgun that was manufactured by the High Standard Manufacturing Company of Hamden, Connecticut. It is easily recognized by its bullpup design, rotatable shoulder stock, and integrated flashlight. History and design The basic design of the Model 10 shotgun was developed in the late 1950s by Alfred Crouch, a Santa Monica, California police sergeant. Crouch's goal was to create the ultimate entry shotgun for SWAT and tactical units. His original design used a modified Remington semi-automatic shotgun. In the mid 1960s, Crouch sold his design to the High Standard Manufacturing Company, who used their C1200 Supermatic shotgun as the basis for the first model, the 10A. The C1200 Supermatic was modified by replacing the stock, relocating the trigger assembly, and fitting a three-piece plastic shell around the receiver and first half of the barrel. The rearward piece of the shell provided an attachment point for th ...

Franchi SPAS-15
The Franchi SPAS-15 is a dual-mode 12 gauge combat shotgun manufactured by the Italian company Luigi Franchi S.P.A. Design The weapon is based on the SPAS-12, and has similar pump-action/ semi-automatic firing modes. In semi-automatic mode, a gas piston drives a bolt carrier and rotating bolt. In pump-action mode, the same components are driven by sliding the fore-end backwards. Pump-action mode is required to reliably fire low-pressure (less lethal) ammunition such as tear gas rounds or less-lethal bean bags. Switching between firing modes is done by pressing a button above the foregrip, and sliding the foregrip slightly forwards or backwards. The barrel is chrome lined and features screw-in choke tubes. Unlike its predecessor, the SPAS-15 is fed by a detachable box magazine. The gun features either a fixed black wooden stock, or a side folding metal stock. Both had the same pistol grip safety. Amongst Italian troops the weapon is known by the nickname "La Chiave dell'Incur ...
