Schaan () is the largest municipality of Liechtenstein by population. It is located to the north of Vaduz, the capital, in the central part of the country. it has a population of 6,039 making it the most populous administrative district in Liechtenstein. Representing an important traffic hub and industrial location of the country, Schaan covers an area of , including mountains and forest. It is a municipality within the electoral district of Oberland in the Principality of Liechtenstein. Schaan contains four enclaves: Brunnenegg, Gritsch, Guschg, and Plankner Neugrütt. Schaan-Vaduz Railway Station
Schaan-Vaduz is one of the four train stations serving Liechtenstein, located in the town of Schaan, from Vaduz. It is owned by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). The station is served by eighteen trains per day, nine in each direction between Switzerland and Austria. Overview Schaan-Vaduz is situated on the international and electrified Feldkirch-Buchs line, between the station of Buchs SG (in Switzerland) and the stop of Forst Hilti (in the northern suburb of Schaan). It is served only by regional trains. Located in the middle of town, the station is composed of a two-storey building, a wooden shed and a platform serving the first track. The second track has no platform and is rarely used. Located on the platform is the remnants of a rail line, part of a dismantled track system used by freight wagons. Feldkirch–Buchs Railway
The Feldkirch–Buchs railway is a electrified single track railway line that links Austria and Switzerland passing through Liechtenstein. Owned by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), it is the only railway line in Liechtenstein. History The line opened in 1872, during the opening period of the Vorarlberg Railway, and was electrified in 1926. It is served by some pairs of regional trains and buses and by some international trains (EuroCity, InterCity, and Railjets) that are non-stop between Feldkirch and Buchs. In June 2008 the Canton of St. Gallen, the Federal State of Vorarlberg, and the Principality of Liechtenstein signed an agreement for a project to upgrade the line (and the surrounding ones) and to increase the rail traffic. Planken
Planken is a municipality in Oberland, Liechtenstein. It has four exclaves, two enclaves and a population of 473. Thus by population it is the smallest municipality of Liechtenstein. Geography It is located on the western slope of Drei Schwestern. The center of the main village is on 786m a.s.l.. Additionally the plateau of Oberplanken belongs to the municipality. Its borders on Gamprin's exclave Nendler Berg, the Vaduz' exclave Dachsegg and Eschen in the North, on the Austrian municipality of Frastanz in the East and on Schaan in the South and in the West. The exclave ''Plankner Garselli'' is a former alp in the Samina valley. Oberland (german: Wahlkreis Oberland), meaning "upper land", is one of the two electoral districts of Liechtenstein. It corresponds to the historic County of Vaduz (german: Grafschaft Vaduz), and the administrative seat is the city of Vaduz, the national capital. It has 15 seats in the Landtag. Gamprin
Gamprin is a municipality of Liechtenstein, on the Rhine on the border with the municipality of Sennwald, in Switzerland. It had 1,690 inhabitants in 2019. The municipality contains the village of Bendern and scattered hamlets and the Liechtenstein Institute and LGT Group. History Evidence of human settlement from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages have been found in Gamprin. Within the territory of the parish there is the archaeological site of Lutzengüetle. The name is derived from the Old Romansh camp Rin (field on the Rhine). It was first mentioned in about 1150 as Camporin, and in 1253 it was mentioned as Gamperin. The church, dedicated to Mother Mary, was built in 1481, but has antecedents dating back to 1045. In 1499, the village was pillaged by the Swiss Confederates.
