Luis Saez (born May 19, 1992) in Panama City, Panama) is a jockey in American Thoroughbred horse racing. Saez rode Maximum Security to finish first in the 2019 Kentucky Derby but was subsequently disqualified due to interference. The two later won the world's richest race, the $20,000,000 Saudi Cup, in 2020. Saez won his first Breeders' Cup race in 2020 and first American Classic in 2021, both with champion Essential Quality. Mishriff (foaled 1 April 2017) is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. After showing some promise when winning one minor race as a two-year-old in 2019 he emerged as a top-class middle-distance performer in the following year, recording victories in the Newmarket Stakes, Prix du Jockey Club and Prix Guillaume d'Ornano. It was the third running of the race, and the first after it was promoted to Group 1 status. The total prize money for the race was $20 million, with the winner receiving $10 million, making it the world's most valuable horse race at the time of running. The race was won by outsider Emblem Road, ridden by Panamanian jockey Wigberto Ramos and trained locally in Saudi Arabia by Mitab Almulawah.
