Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya
Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (15 September 1861 – 12/14 April 1962), also referred to by his initials, MV, was an Indian civil engineer, administrator, and statesman, who served as the 19th Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. Visvesvaraya is regarded in India as one of the foremost civil engineers whose birthday, 15 September, is celebrated every year as Engineer’s Day in India, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. He is also often regarded as “the maker of modern Mysore ingdom. According to ''Prajavani'', a Kannada language newspaper, he is also the most popular figure in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. Visvesvaraya worked as a civil engineer for the government of British India and later as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Mysore. For his services to British India, he was appointed CIE and later knighted KCIE. Santa Maria Valley Railroad
The Santa Maria Valley Railroad is a shortline railroad that interchanges with the Union Pacific Railroad's (former Southern Pacific) Coast Line at Guadalupe, California. As of 2006, the Railroad is owned by the Coast Belle Rail Corporation. Traffic The TRC handles 2,000 cars annually (1996 estimate). Sexual capital or erotic capital is the social Power (social and political), power an individual capital, individual or social group, group accrues as a result of their sexual attractiveness and social charm. It enables social mobility independent of Social status, class origin because sexual capital is convertible, and may be useful in acquiring other forms of capital, including social capital and economic capital. Origins The term erotic capital was first used by British sociologist Catherine Hakim in the early 2000s. Hakim defined it as separate from and building upon French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of economic, cultural, and social capital.
