The Main Western Railway line passes through Rydal. Rydal station is serviced by daily Transport NSW train services to and from Sydney and Bathurst, as well as the Dubbo XPT passenger service. First settled in the 1820s, Rydal was located on Major Mitchell's main road to Bathurst, and was a busy village through the mid-1800s and early 1900s. The Great Western Highway by-passed Rydal in 1929. There is a hotel/pub, providing accommodation, meals and coffees, and open over the weekend, but no other shops. Rydal Dam
Rydal Dam is a minor ungated homogeneous earthfill embankment dam with a fuse plug uncontrolled open channel spillway across an off stream storage, located near Rydal in the Central Tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia. The dam's purpose is to provide water storage for Delta power stations at Wallerawang and Mount Piper. The impounded reservoir is also called the Rydal Dam. Location and features Commenced in 1956, completed in 1957, and upgraded in 1989 and 1996, the Rydal Dam is a minor ungated dam, located approximately north of Rydal, south-west of Lithgow. The Rydal rail underbridges are a series of heritage-listed railway underbridges and viaducts that carry the Main Western line over Solitary Creek at Rydal, in the City of Lithgow local government area of New South Wales, Australia. The property is owned by Transport Asset Holding Entity, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. Rydal Railway Station
Rydal railway station is a heritage-listed railway station located on the Main Western line in Rydal, City of Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia. It is also known as Rydal Railway Station group. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History The station opened on 1 July 1870 and was the next finished extension west from Lithgow after Wallerawang had been finalised four months earlier. Two years later the line was again extended finishing at before reaching in 1876. On 14 March 1915, the line was duplicated with a second platform built.
