Russia National Tennis Team
The Russia men's national tennis team until it was suspended in 2022 represented Russia in Davis Cup tennis competition. It is governed by the Russian Tennis Federation. The team started playing in 1993. Russia has won the Davis Cup twice, in 2002 and 2006. In addition, the team of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) won the Davis Cup in 2021. Russia finished as runner-up three times, in 1994, 1995, and 2007. Shamil Anvyarovich Tarpishchev or Tarpischev ( rus, Шамиль Анвярович Тарпищев, , ʂɐˈmʲilʲ ɐnˈvʲarəvʲɪtɕ tɐrˈpʲiɕːɪf, tt-Cyrl, Шамил Әнвәр улы Тарпищев; born 7 March 1948) is a Russian tennis coach and former player. In 1994, he became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Education Tarpishchev studied biology at the Lomonosov University in Moscow, but did not end up completing his studies, and dropped out after one year. He then moved on to graduated from the State Central Institute of Physical Culture, where he completed his degree in 1970. Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev (russian: Даниил Сергеевич Медведев; born 11 February 1996) is a Russian professional tennis player. He is currently ranked world No. 7 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), and was ranked as the singles world No. 1 for 16 total weeks. The Israel men's national tennis team (Hebrew: נבחרת גביע דייוויס של ישראל) represents Israel in Davis Cup tennis competition and is governed by the Israel Tennis Association. As of June 2020, Jonathan Erlich became Captain of the team. The team plays primarily in Canada Stadium, which is the main venue of the Tennis Center in Ramat Hasharon, Tel Aviv District, Israel. The stadium is known for its high intensity, tough crowd, and good home environment. The surface is considered hard by world standards, a feature that plays to the advantage of Israeli competitors already used to it. The tough surface and even tougher crowd have earned the venue the nickname "Israhell" among visiting players.
