Rourkela
Rourkela is a planned city located in the northern district Sundargarh of Odisha, India. It is the third-largest Urban Agglomeration in Odisha after Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. It is situated about west of state capital Bhubaneswar and is surrounded by a range of hills and encircled by the rivers Koel, Sankha, & Brahmani. The city is also popularly known as ''Ispat Nagar'' and ''Steel City of Odisha'' as well. One of the largest integrated steel plant set up with German collaboration Known as Rourkela Steel Plant, of Steel Authority of India Limited ''(SAIL)''. National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela or NITRKL or NITR), formerly Regional Engineering College Rourkela is a publicly funded institute of higher learning for engineering, science and technology located in the steel city of Rourkela, Odisha, India. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and has been recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. Rourkela Steel Plant
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), in Rourkela, Odisha is the first integrated steel plant in the public sector in India. It was set up with West Germany collaboration with an installed capacity of 1 million tonnes in the 1960s. It is operated by Steel Authority of India. German metallurgical firms Mannesmann, Krupp, Demag, Siemens and Austrian company Voestalpine provided machinery and consultancy to the plant among others. Rourkela Steel Plant was the first steel plant in Asia to use the LD ( Linz-Donawitz) process of steel-making. Rourkela Steel Plant has an associated fertilizer plant that produces nitrogeneous fertilizers using ammonia feedstock (from its coke oven plant). Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium
Biju Patnaik Hockey Stadium is a hockey stadium in Rourkela, Odisha. The stadium was constructed and well maintained by SAIL. It was possible due to initiatives taken by Late Bipin Behari Panda & M. Kindo in early 90s. The stadium is mainly used for field hockey and has synthetic AstroTurf which has been host to World Hockey Junior World Cup and been a training centre to most of the international Hockey players of India. Hanuman Vatika
Hanuman Vatika, or the garden belonging to Lord Hanuman, is situated in Civil Township, Rourkela. The garden houses one of the world's tallest statue of Hanuman.
