Randaberg
Randaberg is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Jæren, at the northern end of the Stavanger Peninsula. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Randaberg. Randaberg is located just north of the city of Stavanger. It is the northernmost conurbation of the Stavanger/Sandnes area, one of the largest urban areas in the country. The Byfjord Tunnel connects the islands of Stavanger Municipality to the east with the mainland of Randaberg. The Rogfast tunnel is going to be built from Randaberg, under the Boknafjorden, to the north side of the fjord as well as to the island of Kvitsøy. The municipality is the 350th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Randaberg is the 99th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 11,454. Randaberg Church
Randaberg Church ( no, Randaberg kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Randaberg Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Randaberg. It is one of the two churches for the Randaberg parish which is part of the Tungenes prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1845 using designs by the architect Hans Linstow. The church seats about 460 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1316, but the church was not new that year. The first church in Randaberg was a stave church and it was located about north of the present site of the church. The original church sat just east of the tall ''Randabergfjellet'' mountain, a notable geographic feature in the municipality. In 1415, the church underwent some repairs and renovations. Hetland
Hetland is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until 1965 when it was dissolved. The municipality included the Stavanger Peninsula and the land surrounding both sides of the Gandsfjorden, but not the area around the head of the fjord. It originally encompassed the land surrounding the city of Stavanger in the present-day municipalities of Randaberg and Stavanger (except the city of Stavanger) and part of the municipality of Sandnes. The main church for Hetland was Hetland Church (now named "Frue Church"). Upon its dissolution in 1965, the municipality had 24,173 residents. Rogfast
Rogaland Fixed Link or simply the Rogfast is a project, constructing a sub-sea road tunnel between the municipalities of Randaberg (near the city of Stavanger) and Bokn in Rogaland county, Norway. The tunnel will be called the Boknafjord tunnel; it will be a world record with respect to its length and its maximum depth of below sea level. This will be a part of the main European route E39 highway along the west coast of Norway and it will link the cities of Kristiansand – Stavanger – Haugesund – Bergen. Jæren
Jæren is a traditional district in Rogaland county, Norway. The other districts in Rogaland are Dalane, Ryfylke, and Haugalandet. Jæren is one of the 15 districts that comprise Western Norway. The Byfjord Tunnel ( no, Byfjordtunnelen) is a subsea road tunnel in Rogaland county, Norway. The tunnel runs between the village of Grødem on the mainland in Randaberg municipality and the island of Sokn in Stavanger municipality, running underneath the Byfjorden. Kvitsøy (island)
Kvitsøy or Kvitsøya is the main island in Kvitsøy municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The island is one of 167 islands and skerries that make up the municipality. The island is home to most of the municipal residents, as well as the majority of the municipality's land area. The main population centre on the island is the village of Ydstebøhamn on the southern coast. The Kvitsøy Church and Kvitsøy Lighthouse are both located on the island. The island is only accessible by boat.
