Rancidification
Rancidification is the process of complete or incomplete autoxidation or hydrolysis of fats and oils when exposed to air, light, moisture, or bacterial action, producing short-chain aldehydes, ketones and free fatty acids. When these processes occur in food, undesirable odors and flavors can result. In processed meats, these flavors are collectively known as warmed-over flavor. In certain cases, however, the flavors can be desirable (as in aged cheeses). Rancidification can also detract from the nutritional value of food, as some vitamins are sensitive to oxidation. Similar to rancidification, oxidative degradation also occurs in other hydrocarbons, such as lubricating oils, fuels, and mechanical cutting fluids. Rancid (band)
Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. Founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, former members of the band Operation Ivy, Rancid is often credited as being among the wave of bands that revived mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Over their -year career, Rancid retained much of its original fan-base, most of which was connected to its underground musical roots. Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. Their current lineup consists of Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums. The band was formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Steineckert. ''Rancid'' is the eponymously titled debut extended play by the American punk rock band Rancid. It was released in January 1992 through Lookout! Records, home of Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman's prior band, Operation Ivy. It is a recording of the band in its earliest days as a three-piece. Although the correct title of the extended play is simply ''Rancid'', it is commonly referred to as ''I'm Not the Only One'' or ''The Bottle'' (because of the cover) among Rancid collectors and fans. Only released on seven-inch vinyl, the songs from the extended play have never been re-recorded for future albums. As of June 2008, it is out of print and has not been domestically released on CD, however, its contents appear as bonus tracks on the Japanese release of ''B Sides and C Sides''. A common bootleg recording from these sessions exists entitled '' Demos from the Pit''. Rancid (1993 Album)
''Rancid'' is the debut studio album by the American punk rock band Rancid (band), Rancid. It was released on May 10, 1993, through Epitaph Records. It is the only album to feature the band as a trio (guitarist/vocalist Lars Frederiksen would later join the band for the album's supporting tour), as well as one of three albums not to be produced by Brett Gurewitz (the others being ''...And Out Come the Wolves'' and ''Life Won't Wait''). However, Gurewitz provided backing vocals on the album. It was also the second of three self-titled releases, the others being the group's Rancid (EP), debut extended play (1992) and its Rancid (2000 album), fifth studio album (2000). This album has been dubbed "Rancid Rancid." Until 2017's ''Trouble Maker (album), Trouble Maker'', this was the only Rancid album not to feature their iconic logo on the cover. Rancid (2000 Album)
''Rancid'' (also known as ''Rancid 5'' or ''Rancid 2000'' to avoid confusion with their debut album) is the eponymously titled fifth studio album by the American punk rock band Rancid, released on August 1, 2000. It is the second eponymous album and the first to be released through frontman Tim Armstrong's label, Hellcat Records. It also features the return of producer Brett Gurewitz, who has produced every subsequent album by the band. Production and composition Recording concluded in April 2000. It is Rancid's most hardcore offering to date, which was released as a follow-up to the more ska and reggae oriented '' Life Won't Wait''. It spans 22 tracks in under 40 minutes, owing to over 3/4 of the songs clocking at under 2 minutes. The Japanese version includes one bonus track, "Sick Sick World". ''Rancid'' is a 2004 English-language Swedish thriller film, written by Jesper Ersgård and directed by Jack Ersgard. Plot Once a promising young writer, John barely makes a living doing odd jobs. After a personal tragedy he is now stuck in a negative mood and dispassionate about his work. In the middle of his existential crisis he attends a high school reunion and meets three old friends, acquaintances he's tried to forget but who now appear like scary shadows from his past. Face to face with the love of his life, John tries to right old wrongs and get his life in order. John soon realizes that the past is best laid to rest or it might haunt him for all eternity. Wanted by the police for murder, he must choose between succumbing to his darkest desires or the light that will renew his faith in himself and his future.
