This is a list of all railway stations in Thailand that are or was operated by State Railway of Thailand (SRT). This list does not include rapid transit stations of the BTS Skytrain, MRT and SRTET (Airport Rail Link) and SRT Red Lines. Open Railway Stations and Halts The following table lists all open railway stations in Thailand as of September 2021 in English alphabetical order. All stations are on the Northern Line, Northeastern Line, Southern Line, Eastern Line or the Maeklong Railway and their respective branch lines. Closed Railway Stations and Halts The following table lists all closed railway stations in Thailand as of September 2021 in English alphabetical order. The list does not include stations of the Burma Railway Nam Tok Sai Yok Noi-Thanbyuzayat which was demolished at the end of World War II. Railway Station
Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. In contrast to road transport, where the vehicles run on a prepared flat surface, rail vehicles (rolling stock) are directionally guided by the tracks on which they run. Tracks usually consist of steel rails, installed on sleepers (ties) set in ballast, on which the rolling stock, usually fitted with metal wheels, moves. Other variations are also possible, such as "slab track", in which the rails are fastened to a concrete foundation resting on a prepared subsurface. Rolling stock in a rail transport system generally encounters lower frictional resistance than rubber-tyred road vehicles, so passenger and freight cars (carriages and wagons) can be coupled into longer trains. Aranyaprathet
Aranyaprathet (Thai: อรัญประเทศ) is a town (''thesaban mueang'') in Sa Kaeo province in eastern Thailand . It covers the entire ''tambon'' of Aranyaprathet, in Aranyaprathet district. As of 2005, the town has 16,937 inhabitants. It is located just from the border with Cambodia; the town of Poipet is on the other side of the border. On the Thai side of the border is the huge Rongkluea market. Cambodian people cross the border daily with pushcarts and scooters with side cars loaded with their products. A significant part of the trade is in second hand clothes. Just over the border on the Cambodian side there are casinos. These are visited by many Thai people because gambling is prohibited in Thailand. Special free buses run between Bangkok and these casinos. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District
Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya ( th, พระนครศรีอยุธยา, ) is the capital district ('' amphoe Mueang'') of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province, central Thailand. Its former name as the capital city of Ayutthaya Kingdom was "Krungthep Thawarawadi Si Ayutthaya" ( th, กรุงเทพทวารวดีศรีอยุธยา). History According to George Coedes, tradition states Ramathibodi I founded Dvaravati Sri Ayudhya in 1350. Created in 1897, the district was originally called Rop Krung (รอบกรุง). The district name was changed to Krung Kao (กรุงเก่า) in 1917. In 1957 the name was changed to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. to commemorate the old capital city of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. This makes it unique among Thailand's capital districts, the rest of which are named ''amphoe mueang'' followed by the name of province. Kamphaeng Saen District
Kamphaeng Saen (, ) is the northwesternmost district (''amphoe'') of Nakhon Pathom province, central Thailand. Bangkok
Bangkok, officially known in Thai language, Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon and colloquially as Krung Thep, is the capital and most populous city of Thailand. The city occupies in the Chao Phraya River delta in central Thailand and has an estimated population of 10.539 million as of 2020, 15.3 percent of the country's population.
