The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that regulates communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable across the United States. Air1 is an American Christian radio network. Owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF), it primarily broadcasts contemporary worship music, and is a sister to the EMF's K-Love network. History In 1986, KLRD began broadcasting Christian Hit/Rock music from Yucaipa, California, and went by the on-air moniker K-LORD. In 1994, KXRD was started as a sister station to KLRD. In 1995, K-LORD changed its name to "Air1" and began broadcasting via satellite from St. Helens, Oregon. In 1999, Air1 joined with EMF Broadcasting, and finally in 2002, it moved its headquarters to Rocklin, California. WFAD (1490 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Middlebury, Vermont, United States. The station is owned by Radio Broadcasting Services, Inc. and is part of The Point, a network of five FM stations and one AM station, as well as four associated FM translators, carrying an adult album alternative format. Fisher were initially granted on April 20, 1966, a construction permit for a new 1,000-watt radio station on 1490 kHz in Middlebury, for which they had filed more than four years prior. The station signed on shortly before noon on July 22, 1966, airing a full-service format and became affiliated with CBS. WEZF
WEZF (92.9 MHz, "Star 92.9") is a commercial FM radio station located in Burlington, Vermont. The station airs a hot adult contemporary radio format and is owned and operated by Vox AM/FM. WEZF has studios and offices on Hegeman Avenue in Colchester and its transmitter is on top of Vermont's highest mountaintop, Mount Mansfield, using an omnidirectional antenna. WEZF carries the syndicated Delilah evening show from Premiere Networks. All weekday air shifts are either hosted or co-hosted by women. From mid-November to December 25 each year, WEZF switches to an all-Christmas music format. WEZF is the only full-powered commercial Class C radio station in Vermont. WEXP (101.5 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Brandon, Vermont. WEXP broadcasts an Americana music format featuring nearly all types of rock, folk, bluegrass, blues and jazz with an effective radiated power of 350 watts with a directional antenna located atop "Grandpa's Knob" near Castleton, Vermont. WEXP features live, daily dialog with community service. History The station's construction permit was originally owned by Tim Hoehn, Gary Savoie, and local resident Michael Carr who wound up selling a controlling interest to Jeff Shapiro. WEQX
WEQX is an FM radio station located at 102.7 MHz and broadcasting from Manchester, Vermont, United States with an effective radiated power of 1,250 watts at 759 meters (equivalent to 50,000 watts at 150 meters). Their tower is located on nearby Equinox Mountain. Because of its location and power the station is able to reach Albany-Schenectady-Troy (while distantly), Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls along with southern and central Vermont, western Massachusetts, and western New Hampshire. It broadcasts an alternative rock format which is more varied than most stations owned by larger corporations. Pamal Broadcasting, Ltd. is a family-owned radio group with twenty-three stations in medium-to-small markets in the Northeast. Based in the Albany suburb of Latham, New York, Pamal Broadcasting was founded in 1987 as Albany Broadcasting Company, when business man James J. Morrell entered broadcast ownership with the purchase of WFLY and WPTR from Five States Tower Company, a Poughkeepsie, New York-based broadcasting company that also owned radio stations WPDH and WEOK in the mid-Hudson valley. The Pamal name, a portmanteau of the names of Morrell's children, was adopted in 1996 though each cluster uses a unique name (such as Albany Broadcasting for the Albany cluster; the Pamal name is rarely used on-air, except in the Hudson Valley). WDVT (94.5 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic rock music format branded as "Rock 94.5." Licensed to Rutland, Vermont, United States, the station serves the Lebanon-Rutland-White River Junction area. The station is currently owned by Pamal Broadcasting. History The station was originally assigned the call letters WHWB-FM on September 24, 1990. On April 15, 1991, the station changed its call sign to WYOY. On January 14, 1994, the call sign changed to WJEN. On February 8, 2008, the country format ("Cat Country") and WJEN call sign were moved to 105.3 FM, with 94.5 FM WDVT becoming the simulcast station.
