''RWBY'' (pronounced "Ruby") is an American Anime-influenced animation, animated web series created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. It is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become warriors ("Huntsmen" and "Huntresses") to protect their world from monsters called Grimm. The name ''RWBY'' is derived from the four main protagonists' forenames: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long, and their respective thematic colors (red, white, black and yellow). Following several promotional trailers, the first episode was screened at Rooster Teeth's convention, RTX (event), RTX, and premiered on their website on July 18, 2013. Subsequent episodes were released weekly, first to Rooster Teeth subscribers and then to YouTube a week later. This is a list of characters who appear in ''RWBY'', an original anime-style CG-animated web series created by Rooster Teeth Productions. According to series creator Monty Oum, every character's name is tied to a specific color. There are also other teams with their name combining to form acronyms that are also tied to a color. Creation and conception Oum designed the characters with assistance from artist Ein Lee. Oum had been browsing Lee's DeviantArt work and asked if she wanted to do some designs. The only rule provided for the series was "everyone must be badass." is a Japanese anime television series produced by Shaft, based on the American web series ''RWBY'' created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. The series aired from July to September 2022. A manga adaptation illustrated by Kumiko Suekane began serialization in ASCII Media Works's ''shōnen'' manga magazine ''Dengeki Daioh'' in June 2022. ''RWBY Chibi'' is an American animated comedy web series produced by Rooster Teeth Animation for Rooster Teeth. It is a spin-off of ''RWBY'', where each episode consists of several scenes where aspects of RWBY's characters are usually exaggerated for comic effect. The series was first announced as part of Rooster Teeth's 13th Anniversary celebration on April 1, 2016 and premiered May 7. In January 2017, Rooster Teeth confirmed that the second season's premiere would be later in that year on May 13 on Rooster Teeth and May 20 on YouTube. Arryn Zech
Arryn Zech (born October 4, 1990) is an American voice actress. She is best known for voicing Blake Belladonna in the original anime-style CG-animated web series, ''RWBY'' and Dr. Emily Grey in ''Red vs. Blue'', an American web series also created by Rooster Teeth. Early life Zech was born in Rota, Andalusia, Spain. She began acting in a New Braunfels theater in ''A Bug's Life'' production and working in local theater. She attended North East School of Arts in San Antonio, Texas, a musical theater school. Barbara Julie Dunkelman (born July 2, 1989) is a Canadian actress and internet personality. Lindsay Elise Jones ( Tuggey; born September 6, 1989) is an American actor, director, gamer and host. They are known for their work with Rooster Teeth, and have provided the voices of Ruby Rose in ''RWBY'' and in ''Red vs. Blue'' from 2013–2024. Anime-influenced animation is a type of non-Japanese work of animation that is noticeably similar to or inspired by anime. Monty Oum
Monyreak "Monty" Oum ( ; June 22, 1981 – February 1, 2015) was an American web-based Computer animation, animator and writer. Oum attracted attention within the gaming community after releasing an animated video in 2007, titled ''Haloid'', where characters from the ''Halo (franchise), Halo'' and ''Metroid'' video game franchises fight against each other'','' which went viral. In October of the same year, he released a follow-up, ''Dead Fantasy''. Oum began working for Rooster Teeth, serving as the lead animator for ''Red vs. Blue'', and creating the original animated series ''RWBY''. RTX was a series of annual Video game culture, gaming and Internet convention (meeting), conventions created by Rooster Teeth held primarily in Austin, Texas and for a period of time also Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and London, England, UK.
