RK Zamet
RK Zamet (Rukometni Klub Zamet) is a handball club from Rijeka, Croatia, formed in 1957. The club currently competes in the Croatian Premier Handball League and the Croatian Handball Cup. Although the club has not won any mayor trophies, it has produced four Olympic gold medalists: Valter Matošević, Alvaro Načinović, Valner Franković and Mirza Džomba. Four additional Olympic gold medalists played for the club, including Irfan Smajlagić, Vladimir Šujster, Zlatko Saračević and Božidar Jović, and Jakov Gojun, who has a bronze medal. History Origins The club was founded in September 1957, as RK Partizan Zamet by Prof. Stanko Jerger, Josip Šarić and Vittorio Drog. Centar Zamet ( en, Centre Zamet) is a sports hall in Rijeka, with sporting, cultural, business and entertainment events. Yugoslav Handball Championship
The Yugoslav Handball Championship was the highest level competition in men's team handball in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, played regularly for almost four decades between 1953 and 1992, before being abandoned due to the breakup of Yugoslavia. History The first five editions from 1953 to 1957 were decided via a finals play-off tournament contested by clubs who had qualified in regional competitions, before a regular round-robin league format was introduced for the 1957–58 season. The league featured clubs from all of Yugoslavia's federal subjects, with the most successful being RK Bjelovar with 9 titles, followed by RK Borac Banja Luka and RK Metaloplastika with 7 titles each. RK Celje
Rokometni klub Celje ( en, Celje Handball Club), currently named Celje Pivovarna Laško due to sponsorship reasons, and commonly referred to as RK Celje or simply Celje, is a handball club from Celje, Slovenia. The Men's EHF Champions League is the most important club handball competition for men's teams in Europe and involves the leading teams from the top European nations. The competition is organised every year by EHF. The official name for the men's competition is the EHF Champions League Men. The EHF coefficient rank decides which teams have access and in which stage they enter. Eligibility and qualifying Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations (England and Scotland), and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. Mladen Prskalo
Mladen Prskalo (born 16 June 1968) is a Croatian handball coach and former player who player at the line position. He is currently head coach of Rudan Labin from Labin. He is the uncle of goalkeeper Andrej Prskalo. Career Prskalo spent the majority of his career playing for Zamet, he also played for Rudar Labin, Mladi Rudar, Crikvenica and Austrian club Vöslauer HC. As an international player he played for Croatia men's national handball team 13 times. He appeared at 1997 World Championship and 1997 Mediterranean Games where Croatia won a gold medal. After retiring as a player from Zamet he became coach for half a season at the club. He was also a coach of RK Kvarner Kostrena for a season. Tonči Peribonio
Tonči Peribonio (born 3 May 1960) is a Croatian former handball goalkeeper. He is currently a goalkeeper coach at TSG Ketsch. Career Peribonio started his career at RK Krivaja Zavidovići. After nine years at the club he moved to RK Zamet and helped them get promoted to the Yugoslav First League. During 1991 Peribonio moved from Zamet to Spanish club Gáldar Tres de Mayo where he spent a season before moving to RK Zagreb. In 1997 Peribonio moved to Split Brodomerkur where he spent two seasons as captain before moving to Germany. He played in the EHF Cup with the club in 1997-98 and 1998-99. RK Kvarner Rijeka (Rukometni Klub Kvarner Rijeka) was a handball club from Rijeka, Croatia, formed in 1963. It was later incorporated into Kvarner Kostrena. History RK Kvarner The club was founded 27 February 1963, as RK Kvarner. Jurica Lakić
Jurica Lakić (11 May 1953 - 9 September 1982) is a former Croatian handball player. Career Jurica Lakić was born on 11 May 1953. He started playing handball in RK Dubovac. He started his senior career in RK Dubovac at the age of 15. In 1970 Lakić moved to RK Kvarner in Rijeka on the call of head coach Vlado Stenzel and played in the golden generation of Kvarner in the Yugoslav First League. In 1972 Lakić played for the national team of SR Croatia and a year later he made 5 appearances for Yugoslavia. Lakić was a key player in RK Kvarner all throughout his six year stay. In 1975 after the departure of Ivan Munitić he coached the team for a couple of months. Boris Komucki
Boris Komuczki (born 28 December 1956 in Rijeka) is a former Croatian handball player and coach. Playing career Komucki started playing handball at a young age in primary school in Trsat. He soon moved to RK Kvarner where he started his handball career. He was supposed to play for the Yugoslav national team at the 1978 World Championship but couldn't due to mandatory military service. In 1979 after being stripped the captain's arm band he moved to city rivals RK Zamet. With Zamet Komucki demolished his former club, won the city rivalry to the extent that Kvarner admitted defeat in writing. In 1981 Komucki spent a season in Belgrade playing for RK Crvena Zvezda and a season in Banja Luka with Borac. Komucki had one more spell at RK Zamet where they almost entered the Yugoslav First League being one point short from Jugović Kać. Damir Čavlović
Damir Čavlović (born 28 January 1952) is a former Croatian handball player. He has coached clubs such as RK Zamet, RK Split Brodokumer, ŽRK Zamet, ŽRK Tvin Trgocentar and RK Kvarner Kostrena. In 1996 he was also coach of the Croatia men's national handball team. Čavlović last coached RK Zamet in senior competition during the 2009-10 season. Since then he has coached various youth selection in Zamet and Trsat. Career Playing career Čavlović started his playing career in his hometown club RK Dubovac. After two seasons in Dubovac he was called up by Vlado Stenzel to come play for RK Kvarner in Rijeka.
