RK Mornar-Crikvenica (Rukometni Klub Mornar-Crikvenica) is a handball club from Crikvenica, Croatia, formed in 2017 by the merger of RK Crivenica and RK Mornar. History RK Mornar (1980–2017) RK Mornar was founded 26 May 1980 in Dramalj on the initiative of Stjepan Lončarić. RK Crikvenica (1956–2017) RK Crikvenica was founded in October 1956 in Crikvenica. The club was founded on the initiative of Gymnasium (school), gymnasium Gymnastics, gymnastics teacher Branko Banjanin. During the Yugoslav Handball Championship Crikvenica competed in lower tier leagues. From 1985 the club didn't have a regulated sports facility so they played their home matches in Delnice, Senj and Rijeka until February 2003 when the Crikvenica, city finally built them their ground GSD Crikvenica. The first match played in GSD Crikvenica was RK Crikvenica against RK Umag on 15 February 2003. Valter Matošević
Valter Matošević (born 11 June 1970) is a former Croatian team handball player who was at the goalkeeper position. He played for professional teams in Croatia, Germany, Spain, Denmark and Italy. He is current handball coach. He was part of the national team for 12 years and won gold medals at the 1996 Summer Olympics, 2003 World Men's Handball Championship and 2004 Summer Olympics. Career Matošević started his career in his hometown club RK Zamet where he competed in Yugoslav First League and Croatian First League. At a very young age he was recognized as a goalkeeper prodigy so at the age of 16 he made his debut for Zamet II. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. Ivan Munitić
Ivan Munitić (born 7 April 1942) is a former Croatian handball player and handball coach. Playing career Munitić started playing handball in RK Partizan Zamet. In 1963 he transferred to newly established Kvarner Rijeka and was part of their first ever squad. He later returned to Zamet but opted to end his playing career in Kvarner. Coaching career During his last playing season he was also the assistant coach of the team alongside head coach Božo Peter. He was also in the coaching staff for Vlado Stenzel from 1970 to 1973 while finishing his coaching degree. In 1973 he became the head coach of RK Kvarner and he coached his side into the Yugoslav First League. Drago Žiljak
Drago Žiljak (born 14 January 1960 in Rijeka) is a former Croatian handball player and coach. He is currently the head coach of women's side ŽRK Zamet. Playing career Žiljak started playing handball in 1974 when he was picked by coach Vjekoslav Sardelić to play for the U-14 team of RK Zamet at the Croatian U-14 Championship. Zamet won the championship. He opted to play for then First League side RK Kvarner. In 1976 Žiljak started playing for the senior team who were relegated the season before to the Yugoslav Second League - North. Robert Savković
Robert Savković (born 27 September 1978) is a retired Croatian handball player. He last played for RK Crikvenica and he also played for Croatia men's national handball team, Croatian national team U-21. Career Savković started his career in hometown club RK Zamet. In his first season with the club he helped them return to the top flight by winning the Croatian Premier Handball League, First B League. He also won the Croatian Premier Handball League, Croatian U-18 Championship with a very talented generation that featured Nikola Blažičko, Mirza Džomba, Renato Sulić and Mile Uzelac, Milan Uzelac. Mateo Hrvatin (born 15 August 1980 in Rijeka) is a former Croatian team handball, handballer, who played as left winger for RK Zamet, RK Zagreb, CO Zagreb and RK Crikvenica.
