Puttalam ( si, පුත්තලම, translit=Puttalama; ta, புத்தளம், translit=Puttaḷam) is the largest town in Puttalam District, North Western Province, Sri Lanka. Puttalam is the administrative capital of the Puttalam District and governed by an Urban Council. Climate Under the Köppen climate classification, Pattalam has a tropical savanna climate with a short dry season from June to September and a second dry season from January to March. The wet season is mainly from October to December. Temperatures remain steady throughout the year with little variations in between. North Western Province, Sri Lanka
North Western Province ( si, වයඹ පළාත ''Wayamba Paḷāta'', ta, வட மேல் மாகாணம் ''Vada Mael Mākāṇam'') is a province of Sri Lanka. The province consists of the districts of Kurunegala and Puttalam. Its capital is Kurunegala, which has a population of 28,571. The province is known mainly for its numerous coconut plantations. Other main towns in this province are Chilaw (24,712) and Puttalam (45,661), which are both small fishing towns. The majority of the population of Wayamba province is of Sinhalese ethnicity. Puttalam is a district situated near to the west coast of Sri Lanka. It has an area of . Along with the Kurunegala District, it formulates the North Western Province of Sri Lanka. The district capital is Puttalam, which borders the Kala Oya and Modaragam Aru in the north, Anuradhapura District and Kurunegala District in the east, Ma Oya in the south, and the Indian Ocean in the west. There are 41 Urban councils in Sri Lanka, which are the legislative bodies that preside over the second tier municipalities in the country. Seguwantivu And Vidatamunai Wind Farms
The Seguwantivu and Vidatamunai Wind Farms are two legally separate wind farms built together by Seguwantivu Wind Power and Vidatamunai Wind Power, on the south-east shore of the Puttalam Lagoon, in Puttalam, Sri Lanka. The Seguwantivu Wind Farm utilizes thirteen wind turbines, while the Vidatamunai Wind Farm utilizes twelve wind turbines also of the same model, thus totalling the installed capacity to and respectively. The wind farm is approximately in length, and is diagonal from north-west to south-east, with the mainland on the north-east the Puttalam Lagoon on the south-west. The twelve northern turbines belong to Vidatamunai Wind Farm, while the thirteen southern turbines belong to Seguwantivu. The wind farms cost to construct. Tariq Hisny, simply known and credited as Tariq, is a Sri Lankan composer and singer, working mainly for the Indian music industry. Early life and education Tariq was born in Puttalam, North Western Province of Sri Lanka. From a young age, he had shown promise as a singer. During his early days, he used to sing songs as a karaoke artist. He also developed an interest in composing music. He has acknowledged Yuvan Shankar Raja, AR Rahman and Karthik as his inspirations. Tariq learned Carnatic music, western music theory and piano. Compositions In 2016, Tariq began composing music.
