It is endemic to Mexico and only known from the area of its type locality in the Sierra Madre de Oaxaca near Ayutla, Oaxaca. Its common name is mustache false brook salamander or mustached false brook salamander. The specific name refers to the whitish protuberances on the lips that resemble a mustache in the frontal view of the male holotype. Description The type series consists of two specimens, the male holotype measuring and the female allotype in snout–vent length. The tail is shorter than the body, with total lengths of about for the two specimens, respectively. The limbs are moderately short and stout. The dorsum is gray in its ground color with faint traces of pink especially on the snout, and with scattered black dots. The tail has some conspicuous, large white blotches. Pseudoeurycea Aurantia
''Pseudoeurycea aurantia'', commonly known as Peña Verde salamander, is a species of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. It is endemic to Oaxaca, Mexico and only known from its type locality near Peña Verde, which is the northernmost high peak in the Sierra de Juárez. Description Two males in the type series measured about in snout–vent length and eight females in snout–vent length. The habitus is relatively robust. The head is relatively broad. The snout is broadly rounded but more truncate in males than in females. The limbs are relatively long, with well-developed hands and feet with comparatively long and slender digits. The dorsal ground color is reddish brown, grading to pale yellow ventrally. There is a broad and conspicuous orange mid-dorsal stripe that runs from the scapular region to the tip of the tail; in the head region, this dorsal stripe is broken into darker flecks. There are bright yellow spots all over the dorsum but they are more concentrated on ...

Pseudoeurycea Lynchi
''Pseudoeurycea lynchi'', commonly known as the Veracruz green salamander, is a species of salamanders in the family Plethodontidae. It is endemic to the central Sierra Madre Oriental in Veracruz and Puebla states, Mexico. Etymology The specific name ''lynchi'' honors Dr. (1942–1988), a "friend and long-time collaborator". (Not as sometimes claimed.) Description Adult males measure and females in snout–vent length (SVL). The tail is relatively stout, tapering rather abruptly toward the tip, and is about the same length as the SVL (range 86–115 %). The hands and feet are comparatively well developed. The coloration of the dorsum is variable: dark green, green-ochre, pale yellow-green, tannish yellow, or in some populations, even blue-gray. The ground color is black, and there are usually many black spots and short streaks. The tail is usually paler than the body and ends with a bright yellow to reddish orange tip. Some individuals have a distinct, shallow V-shaped yel ...

Pseudoeurycea Firscheini
''Pseudoeurycea firscheini'' is a species of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. It is endemic to the Sierra Madre de Oaxaca of west-central Veracruz, Mexico, and known from Acultzingo (its type locality) on the Puebla–Veracruz border eastward to the Sierra Zongolica. It is also known as the Firschein's false brook salamander or simply Firschein's salamander. The specific name ''firscheini'' honors Mr. Irwin Lester Firschein, an American biologist, geneticists, and anthropologist. The authors acknowledge Firschein for his explorations on Volcan San Martin, said to "have done much toward stimulating interest in this region of Mexico". Description ''Pseudoeurycea firscheini'' was described based on four specimens of unspecified sex, including the holotype measuring in snout–vent length and a juvenile measuring in snout–vent length and in total length. The adults have small, lichen-like light spots on the tail. The sides and the underparts of the body are almost ...

Pseudoeurycea Aquatica
''Pseudoeurycea aquatica'', which has been given the common name of aquatic salamander is a species of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. It is endemic to Mexico and only known from its type locality in the Sierra Madre de Oaxaca near Totontepec Villa de Morelos, Oaxaca. The natural habitat of ''Pseudoeurycea aquatica'' is cloud forest at about above sea level. It lives aquatically in streams, the only plethodontid salamander in Mesoamerica to do so. It is only known from three specimens collected in 1978, and the original habitat has been completely destroyed. Subsequent searches have been unsuccessful, and the species is likely to be extinct Extinction is the termination of a kind of organism or of a group of kinds (taxon), usually a species. ''Pseudoeurycea melanomolga'', commonly known as the black false brook salamander or black salamander, is a species of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. It is endemic to Mexico and known from the surroundings of the Cofre de Perote in west-central Veracruz as well as from two localities in the adjacent northeast Puebla (near Teziutlán and González Ortega). Description The holotype is an adult female measuring in snout–vent length. The tail is missing but would probably have been at least as long as the body. There is a slight, transverse gular fold, with the associated grooves reaching mid-dorsal line. The colouration is purplish black above and somewhat lighter ventrally. There are paired dorsal flecks corresponding to the costal grooves, few flecks on the sides, and a more prominent fleck in the lateral end of each gular fold. It is endemic to the eastern slope of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt near Cuautlapan, in the west-central Veracruz, Mexico, at elevations of above sea level. Molecular evidence suggests that it consists of two distinct species. It was the type species of genus ''Lineatriton''. Description Males measure and females in snout–vent length. The average tail length is for males and females, respectively. The males have white (unpigemented) testes and vasa deferentia. Habitat and conservation Natural habitats of ''Pseudoeurycea lineola'' are pine-oak forests, but it can also survive in shaded coffee plantations.
