Ana Da Silva
Ana da Silva is a musician, best known as a founding member of post-punk rock band the Raincoats. Career Born in Madeira island of Portugal, she grew up without television and little access to popular culture. She had exposure to music through radio, and as a child was deeply moved by rock and roll from the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. She went to university in Lisbon studying Filologia Germânica 1968/74. Cândida Branca Flor (12 November 1949 – 11 July 2001) was a famous Portuguese entertainer and traditional singer whose career spanned four decades. Biography Cândida Branca Flor was born on 12 November 1949 in Beringel, Beja municipality, Alentejo region, in southern Portugal, and became one of the most recognized Portuguese singers. She went to song classes with Maria do Rosário Coelho and was a member of Banda do Casaco in the 1970s. She took her artistic name from a song by this group, called "''Romance de Branca Flor''". She was an idol to Portuguese children in the 1970s and 1980s as the conductor, with Júlio Isidro, and the singer of the soundtrack, of the TV program "Fungagá da Bicharada". Maria do Carmo Carvalho Rebelo de Andrade (born 20 August 1984, in Lisbon), better known as Carminho (), is a Portuguese fado and popular music singer. She comes from a family of musicians, since her mother, Teresa Siqueira, was a famous fado singer. She is considered one of the most talented and innovative fado singers of her generation. She can be considered as a crossover artist, since her eclectic work shows the heritage of both traditional and contemporary fado, as she also delves into other genres such as Brazilian popular music. Camané (born Carlos Manuel Moutinho Paiva dos Santos Duarte, 20 December 1966 in Oeiras) is a male vocalist and a forerunner of the new generation of fado male singers. "The greatest fadista since Amália Rodrigues and Maria da Fé," is how British biographer David Bret, describes him. He started gaining recognition in Portugal in 1979 after winning the 'Grande Noite do Fado' (Great Fado Night). After this first step, he continued to consistently work toward commercial success with critically well-received albums and a concert tour that touched upon both large and small venues, including 'Casas de Fado' (fado clubs) in Lisbon. Carlos Paião
Carlos Manuel de Marques Paião (1 November 1957 - 26 August 1988) was a singer and songwriter from Portugal. He represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 with the song " Playback". Carlos Paião was also a doctor, having graduated in medicine in 1983, but his great passion was music. Some of his songs became national hits. In August 1988, Carlos Paião died in a car accident on N1 Road (old Lisbon-Porto road) in Ponte Amieira, near Rio Maior, Santarém district, while returning from a concert. Carlos Miguel Quintas Martins (born 9 April 1951 in Faro, Portugal, Faro) is a Portugal, Portuguese stage and television actor and singer. Carlos Quintas turned professional in 1975. Having an acting career simultaneously with being singer until 1982, he then devoted himself exclusively to the theater. Carmen Susana Simões (born 8 March 1973, in Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese singer and lyricist of darkwave and gothic music, characterized by a melancholic mezzo-soprano voice. Carmen began her musical career in local Gothic rock bands known as 'Poetry of Shadows' and 'Isiphilon'. In 1997, Carmen soon became the lead singer of the prestigious darkwave band Aenima. Beto (December 28, 1967 – May 23, 2010), stage name of Albertino João Santos Pereira, was a Portuguese singer. Beto was born in Peniche, Portugal, and started to sing at the age of five. He settled in Torres Vedras at 17. Beto founded the music group Tanimaria in 1992, which performed in Xafarix, a bar in Lisbon. In 2000 he recorded a project with Rita Guerra which resulted in the album ''Desencontros'', performed by both in shows across the country.
