Piauí
Piaui (, ) is one of the states of Brazil, located in the country's Northeast Region. The state has 1.6% of the Brazilian population and produces 0.7% of the Brazilian GDP. Piaui has the shortest coastline of any coastal Brazilian state at 66 km (41 mi), and the capital, Teresina, is the only state capital in the northeast to be located inland. The reason for this is, unlike the rest of the area, Piaui was first colonised inland and slowly expanded towards the ocean, rather than the other way around. In the southeast of the state, the National Park of Serra da Capivara is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park has more than 400 archaeological sites and the largest concentration of rock paintings in the world, in a landscape dominated by canyons and caatinga. Regina Sousa
Maria Regina Sousa (born July 4, 1950) is a Brazilian politician who served as Governor of Piauí between March and December 2022. A member of the Workers' Party (PT), Sousa previously as Vice Governor from 2019 until her predecessor Wellington Dias' resignation in 2022. Sousa served as secretary of state of Piauí from 2003 to 2011. From 2015 to her resignation in 2018, Sousa represented Piauí in the Federal Senate. Since January 2023 has served as Secretary of Social Assistance, Labor and Human Rights of Piauí. Biography Sousa is a former employee of the Bank of Brazil and served as the secretary of State of Piauí in the first two governments of Wellington Dias. She has presided over the Bankers' Union and the Single Central Workers’ Union (CUT) in Piauí. In the 2010 state elections in Piauí, she was elected the first alternate senator. Teresina
Teresina is the capital and most populous municipality in the Brazilian state of Piauí. Being located in north-central Piauí 366 km from the coast, it is the only capital in the Brazilian Northeast that is not located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. With 871,126 inhabitants, Teresina is the 21st largest city in Brazil, and the 15th largest state capital in the country. Together with Timon in the nearby state of Maranhão, it forms a conurbation with a population of about 978,734 inhabitants; the entire metropolitan region of Teresina has over 1,226,509 inhabitants. Ciro Nogueira Lima Filho
Ciro Nogueira Lima Filho (born 21 November 1968) is a Brazilian lawyer, businessman, politician, and a member of the Progressistas (PP) party, of which he is the current president. He has represented Piauí in the Federal Senate since 2011. Previously, he was a Federal Deputy representing Piauí from 1995 to 2011. He is a member of Progressistas. Serra Da Capivara National Park
Serra da Capivara National Park (Portuguese: ''Parque Nacional Serra da Capivara'', , locally ) is a national park in the Northeastern region of Brazil. The area has many prehistoric paintings. The name of the mountain range that defines the park, "Serra da Capivara," literally means " Capybara Hills" in Portuguese. This area has the largest and the oldest concentration of prehistoric sites in the Americas.
