Peruvian Jews
The history of the Jews in Peru dates back to the country's Viceroyalty of Peru, Spanish period with the arrival of migration flows of Sephardic Jews from Europe, the Near East and North Africa, Northern Africa. This small community virtually disappeared as a result of the Peruvian Inquisition, Inquisition, and was only revived by two migratory waves that took place during the late 19th-century and the early to mid-20th century, with a number of Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews arriving to northeastern Iquitos due to the Amazon rubber boom, as well as the country's capital, Lima, through neighbouring Callao, where they also settled due to World War II. The small community in and around Iquitos is now known as the Amazonian Jews, most of which have since Peruvian Jews in Israel, established themselves in Israel since the late 20th century. Lima Metropolitan Area
The Lima Metropolitan Area (, also known as ''Lima Metropolitana'') is an area formed by the conurbation of the Peruvian provinces of Lima (the nation's capital) and Callao.Lima Metropolitana is formed by the Province of Lima and the Constitutional Province of Callao in accordance with D.S. Callao () is a Peruvian seaside city and Regions of Peru, region on the Pacific Ocean in the Lima metropolitan area. Amazon Rubber Boom
The Amazon rubber cycle or boom (, ; , ) was an important part of the socioeconomic history of Brazil and Amazonian regions of neighboring countries, being related to the commercialization of Natural rubber, rubber and the genocide of indigenous peoples. Centered in the Amazon Basin, the boom resulted in a large expansion of colonization in the area, attracting immigrant workers and causing cultural and social transformations. Crimes against humanity were committed against local indigenous societies, including slavery, rape, torture and genocide.
