The Perth Cultural Centre is an area of central Perth, Western Australia, near the James Street Mall. William Street is a suburban distributor and one of two major cross-streets in the central business district of Perth, Western Australia. Commencing in western Mount Lawley, its route takes it through the Northbridge café and nightclub district as well as the CBD. Picabar
Picabar is a small bar located in Northbridge, Western Australia, within the Perth Cultural Centre. It is situated within the old Perth Boys School building, part of the Perth Central School complex in the early 1900s, adjacent to the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) for which the bar is named. Picabar is the family business of brothers Brian and Conor Buckley, and Brian's wife Melissa Bowen. , it employed 15 people. The bar features an outdoor courtyard with access from the Cultural Centre, near the steps and plaza, as well as outdoor tables along the edge of the cultural centre. Picabar opened in 2012 in a disused space that had been boarded up for 12 years. The bar owners subleased the space from PICA with a six-month lease, and an option for a longer, ten-year term subject to PICA's lease from the state government being renewed. Hackett Hall
Hackett Hall is a heritage listed building, previously housing part of the State Library of Western Australia. It is now a part of the new WA Museum Boola Bardip complex in the Perth Cultural Centre, in Western Australia. The name of the Hall is related to the benefactor of The University of Western Australia, John Winthrop Hackett. It was located on James Street, Perth and its western end was adjacent to the southern end of Museum Street. The Museum Street section between the former James Street and Francis Street was closed from traffic to create the Perth Cultural Centre. It was designated as the main building of the Library in the 1930s as the "Public Library of Western Australia in Hackett Hall". The J S Battye Library (more properly known as the J. S. Battye Library of West Australian History) is an arm of the State Library of Western Australia. It stores much of the state's historical records and original publications including books, newspapers, periodicals, maps, and ephemera, as well as oral history tapes, photographs and artworks, films and video, and non-government records which are kept in the library's Private Archives collection. Perth Theatre Trust
The Perth Theatre Trust is a statutory authority which manages and operates cultural venues in Western Australia. It manages His Majesty's Theatre, the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, the Subiaco Arts Centre (leased from the City of Subiaco), the Albany Entertainment Centre, the Goldfields Arts Centre and the Perth Cultural Centre.
