Paul Julian Banks (born 3 May 1978) is an English-born American musician, singer, songwriter, and DJ. Noted for his baritone singing voice, he is best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and studio bassist of the American rock band Interpol. He released a solo album called '' Julian Plenti is... Skyscraper'' in 2009 under the name Julian Plenti, though his solo material is now recorded under his real name. Early life Paul Julian Banks was born in Clacton-on-Sea on 3 May 1978. He has an older brother. His father's corporate role for an automobile manufacturer required that the family relocate frequently. When Banks was three years old, the family left England for the U.S, temporarily lived in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, then moved to Spain when Banks was twelve. In Spain, Banks studied at the American School of Madrid in Pozuelo de Alarcón before the family moved back to the U.S. and lived in New Jersey. Paul Adrian Banks (born 6 July 1973 in York, England) is an English musician, songwriter and lead guitarist with the rock band, Shed Seven. Career Paul Banks formed his first band with schoolfriend Rick Witter in 1986, while still in his teens, and went on to play in other local bands, including Brockley Haven, with Witter, Tom Gladwin and John Leach. Shed Seven Banks joined Witter, Gladwin and John's brother, drummer Alan Leach in Shed Seven just before they gained their first record deal with Polydor Records in 1993, replacing Joe Johnson as their lead guitarist. He spent the next six years recording and touring with the band. Banks became known for his distinctive, dramatic riffs and catchy tunes, and from 1993–1999 he co-wrote many of the band's most popular songs, with fourteen consecutive hits in the UK including " Chasing Rainbows", "Going for Gold" and " She Left Me on Friday". Paul Banks was an American jazz pianist, bandleader, composer and lyricist. In September 1923, Bennie Moten's Kansas City Orchestra recorded four of Banks's compositions for OKeh Records.''Discography of American Historical Recordings''Paul".University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Library. Paul Banke
Paul Andre Banke (born March 1, 1964, in Blythe, California) is a former World Boxing Council Super Bantamweight champion boxer, and is the first American boxer to go public with an AIDS diagnosis. Having lived 29 years after being diagnosed with AIDS, Banke, who accepted medical treatment, is the longest living professional boxer with the disease. Career Banke turned pro in 1985. After losing a 12-round split decision to Daniel Zaragoza in June 1989, Banke captured the WBC Super Bantamweight Title in April 1990 with an upset ninth-round TKO victory over Daniel Zaragoza. He defended his title once in August 1990 with a twelfth round stoppage of undefeated Ki Hoon Lee in South Korea, knocking Lee down three times. He was knocked down three times in the fourth round, and lost his WBC title to Pedro Ruben Decima by fourth round stoppage in November 1990.
