PSS Sleman
Perserikatan Sepakbola Sleman ( 'Sleman Football Union'), or mostly known through its abbreviation PSS, is a professional football club based in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The club competes in the Liga 1 , the top-tier of Indonesian football, after winning promotion from Liga 2 in 2018. The club dons the nickname Super Elang Jawa (English: Super Java Eagles). History PSS was established in 1976 as a regional football association for amateur clubs (known as Perserikatan) in Sleman, the third of its kind in Yogyakarta province after PSIM Yogyakarta and Persiba Bantul. PSS needed 24 years to reach the top-tier of the amateur Perserikatan competitions in 2000. After six years in the premier division, PSS was unable to complete the 2006 season after suffering from the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake that killed more than 5,000 people and damaged thousands of buildings. Javan Hawk-eagle
The Javan hawk-eagle (''Nisaetus bartelsi'') is a medium-sized, dark brown raptor in the family Accipitridae. It is the national bird of Indonesia, where it is commonly referred to as Garuda, from the bird-like creatures in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. The scientific name commemorates the Bartels family, who discovered it. Taxonomy Because of the plumage variability of '' Spizaetus'' eagles, the Javan hawk-eagle was not recognised as a full species until 1953. It was previously placed in ''Spizaetus''. Piala Indonesia
Piala Indonesia ( 'Indonesia Cup') is the professional annual cup competition for football clubs in Indonesia. Originally, it started from the semi-professional football era in 1985 as Piala Liga, which ran until 1989 under Galatama competition. The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) organized the full professional cup competition from 2005 until now. Traditionally, the tournament involves all the clubs from the whole layers in football competitions in Indonesia, which are Liga 1, Liga 2, and Liga 3. The competition was founded in 2005. Piala Indonesia winners qualify for the AFC Cup the following season. Sriwijaya is the most successful club in the competition with three titles. The 2010 Piala Indonesia was the fifth edition of ''Piala Indonesia'', the nationwide football cup tournament in Indonesia, involving professional clubs from Indonesia Super League, Premier Division and First Division. Sriwijaya FC was the tournament's defending champions. The winner of the tournament qualified to play for 2011 AFC Champions League qualification. The 2008–09 Liga Indonesia Premier Division (also known as Liga Esia for sponsorship reasons) was the 14th season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division. The 2006 Liga Indonesia Premier Division (also known as the Liga Djarum Indonesia for sponsorship reasons) was the 12th season of the Liga Indonesia Premier Division, the top Indonesian professional league for association football clubs.
