Ondo, Hiroshima
was a town located in Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 14,294 and a density of 763.16 persons per km². The total area was 18.73 km². Ondo (music)
is a type of Japanese folk music genre. Etymology and description The literal translation of "ondo" is "sound head." Kanji, or the Chinese characters used in the Japanese language, often have literal and abstract meanings, here the kanji for "sound" (音-on) having a more abstract meaning of "melody" or "music," and the kanji for "head," (頭) having a more abstract meaning of "beat," "base pattern." Hence "ondo" probably refers to a kind of "sound" or "beat pattern." There are other names used to describe older Japanese genres of music. For example, "fushi" or " bushi" (節), with its literal meaning of "node," "knuckle," or "joint," refers to the nodes found in bamboo, usually found at a steady sequence. Thus "fushi" can also have the abstract idea of "sequence" to refer to notes and beats in a sequence, i.e., a melody. Ondo Class Oiler
The were a class of three oilers of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), serving during the 1920s and World War II. Construction The ''Ondo'' class was initially planned in 1920 as the six of the ''Kamoi''-class oilers under the Eight-eight fleet final plan. However, of the ''Kamoi''-class oilers, only the ''Kamoi'' was completed, due to the conclusion and signing of the Washington Naval Treaty. The other five vessels were then re-planned to the ''Modified Notoro'' class. Out of the five ships, one became the icebreaker , while the other become the food supply ship . Ondo City
Ondo Town is the second largest town in Ondo State, Nigeria. Ondo Town is the trade center for the surrounding region. Yams, cassava, grain and tobacco are grown. Cotton is also grown, and is used to weave cloth called Aso Oke fabric which is widely accepted by the indigenes as the local attaire . Ondo Town is the largest producer of cocoa products in the region. The title of the king of the town, who reigns as a direct descendant of the fabled Emperor Oduduwa, is "Osemawe". Osamawe title originated from an unusual situation as reported by Nigerian Punch that when the favoured wife of the first Monarch had a set of twins, the king was embarrassed because it was then an abomination. Ondo State ( yo, Ìpínlẹ̀ Oǹdó) is a state in southwestern Nigeria. It was created on 3 February 1976 from the former Western State. It borders Ekiti State to the north, Kogi State to the northeast, Edo State to the east, Delta State to the southeast, Ogun State to the southwest, Osun State to the northwest, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. Ondo Kingdom
The Ondo Kingdom is a traditional state that traces its origins back for over 500 years, with its capital in Ode Ondo. Ondo Kingdom was established by Princess Pupupu, one the twins of Alafin Oluaso. Her mother was Queen Olu who later died at Ile oluji. The princess gave birth to twins in the era where twins were considered an abomination. They called them Ese Omo. One of the twins died at Epe near Ondo. There were wars in the town between 1865 to 1885 when people in the kingdom fled to Oke Opa. Three Osemawes were installed and died there. Before then the kingdom was ruled by the son of Pupupu called Airo. Airo went to Benin under the pupilage of his uncle Oba Eiseghie 1516 to train in the art of governance. Daniel Ona Ondo (born 10 July 1945) is a Gabonese politician who was Prime Minister of Gabon from January 2014 to September 2016.
