West or Occident is one of the four cardinal directions or points of the compass. It is the opposite direction from east and is the direction in which the Sunset, Sun sets on the Earth. Comunidade Intermunicipal do Oeste ( or ; in English: Intermunicipal Community of the West; abbreviated OesteCIM) is an administrative division of Portugal, located on the country's western central coast. The population in 2011 was 362,540, in an area of . Caldas da Rainha serves as the seat of OesteCIM. The law establishing the framework for intermunicipal communities and metropolitan areas was approved by the Assembly of the Republic (Assembleia da República) on 27 August 2008. Oeste Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as simply Oeste, is a Brazilian association football club based in Barueri, São Paulo. They currently play in the Campeonato Paulista Série A2, the second division of the São Paulo state football league. Originally from Itápolis in São Paulo state, Oeste was founded on 25 January 1921. They play in black and red shirts, black shorts and red socks. History The club was founded in 1921 by two brothers from Rio de Janeiro. One was a supporter of Flamengo, while the other was a supporter of Fluminense. A training match against an amateur club from the municipality of Fazenda Itaquerê was set to decide if the club would be named Flamengo or Fluminense. With a victory, the club would be named Flamengo, while if defeated the club would be named Fluminense. The Vakarai (Lithuanian for ''the West'') is an internationally distributed Lithuanian-American newspaper. The ''Vakarai'' is published in Chicago with its headquarters in suburban Downers Grove. It is the largest Lithuanian-American newspaper and is read not only in the United States, but in Canada and Europe as well.
