Náchod District
Náchod District ( cs, okres Náchod) is a district ('' okres'') within Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. Its administrative center is the town of Náchod. Tourism In the territory of Náchod District is the ''Kladsko Borderland Tourist Area'' (tourism district), formerly known as the '' Jirásek's Region'': ''Adršpach-Teplice Rocks''. Transport A section of European route E67 passes through the district, between Hradec Králové and Náchod. This provides a direct road link to the city of Prague in one direction and the countries of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in the other. Railway transport is less important, because Náchod is far from the main railway corridor and remote trains do not go there (remote trains to Prague stay in Červený Kostelec and Starkoč). Districts Of The Czech Republic
Districts of the Czech Republic are territorial units, formerly used as second-level administrative divisions of the Czech Republic. After their primary administrative function has been abolished in 2003, they still exist for the activities of specific authorities and as statistical units. Their administrative function was moved to selected municipalities. Červený Kostelec (; german: Rothkosteletz) is a town in Náchod District in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 8,300 inhabitants. Administrative parts The villages of Bohdašín, Horní Kostelec, Lhota za Červeným Kostelcem, Mstětín, Olešnice and Stolín are administrative parts of Červený Kostelec. History The first written mention of Kostelec is from 1362. In 1876, it was promoted to a town and changed its name to Červený Kostelec ("Red Kostelec"). Culture Since 1952, the town hosts the International Folklore Festival Červený Kostelec. Sights The most notable building is the Church of Saint James the Great.
