Ntungamo District
Ntungamo District is a district in Western Uganda. Like most Ugandan districts, it named after its 'chief town', Ntungamo, the location of the district headquarters. Ntungamo was elevated to a district on 5th May 1993. Overview In the past, Ntungamo District was part of the Ankole Kingdom, a traditional monarchy that dates back to the 18th century. The kingdom was abolished by Milton Obote in 1967. The current President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, and his wife, Janet Museveni, were born in the district. The Ankole Kingdom is coterminous with Ankole sub-region, home to an estimated 2.2 million inhabitants in 2002, according to the national census conducted that year. Location Ntungamo District is bordered to the north by Mitooma District, Sheema District and Rwampara District, going from west to east. Districts Of Uganda
As of 17 November 2020, Uganda is divided into 136 districts and the capital city of Kampala, which are grouped into four administrative regions. Since 2005, the Ugandan government has been in the process of dividing districts into smaller units. This decentralization is intended to prevent resources from being distributed primarily to chief towns and leaving the remainder of each district neglected. Barbie Kyagulanyi
Barbara Kyagulanyi (born September 7, 1984) is a Ugandan philanthropist and author. She is the wife to Ugandan pop artist and politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine. She is the author of "Golden Memories of a Village Belle" published in 2012. In 2013, she founded Caring Hearts Uganda, an NGO with a focus on Girl child leadership empowerment, HIV/AIDS, Menstrual hygiene and girl child education where she teaches girls traditional values, malaria eradication, life-long education, personal development and entrepreneurial skills to promote sustainable development for the youths. As such, she, through her NGO, has donated infrastructure to school for the internally displaced children and marginalized children. Bernard Rwehururu
Bernard Rwehururu ( – 26 February 2015) was a Ugandan military officer and author. He served in various Ugandan militaries from 1965 until 2013, including under the governments of Milton Obote, Idi Amin, Tito Okello, and Yoweri Museveni. After initially studying to become a Catholic priest, Rwehururu became a soldier to financially support his family. In the Uganda–Tanzania War of 1978–79, he rose to command a Uganda Army battalion and fought in several battles. Alongside other remnants of the Ugandan military, he retreated into exile in 1979 and subsequently became part of a rebel group attempting to retake Uganda. In 1985, the new Ugandan government was overthrown by its own military; Rwehururu subsequently returned from exile and joined the Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA).
