Norwegian Township is a township in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,167 at the 2020 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 5.9 square miles (15.4 km), of which 5.8 square miles (15.1 km) is land and 0.1 square mile (0.2 km) (1.52%) is water. Demographics At the 2000 census there were 2,172 people, 861 households, and 632 families living in the township. The population density was 371.9 people per square mile (143.6/km). The Norwegian Forest cat ( no, Norsk skogskatt and ) is a breed of domestic cat originating in Northern Europe. This natural breed is adapted to a very cold climate, with a top coat of long, glossy, water-shedding hair and a woolly undercoat for insulation. The breed's ancestors may have been a landrace of short-haired cats brought to Norway about A.D. 1000 by the Vikings, who may also have brought with them long-haired cats, like those ancestral to the modern Siberian and Turkish Angora. A Norwegian coupling (or meat chopper) or claw hammer coupling or pickaxe coupling is a manual coupling consisting of a central buffer with a mechanical hook that drops into a slot in the central buffer.
