Northeastern Huskies Football
The Northeastern Huskies are the athletic teams representing Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. They compete in thirteen varsity team sports: men's and women's hockey (in Hockey East); men's baseball, men's and women's basketball, women's field hockey and volleyball, swimming, and men's and women's soccer (in the Colonial Athletic Association), and men's and women's rowing, track and cross-country. The NU mascot is Paws. The school colors are red and black with white trim. The fight song, "All Hail, Northeastern," was composed by Charles A. Pethybridge, Class of 1932. While Northeastern has won numerous conference championships, they have not won a team national championship. As of 2021, Northeastern has only had a team make it to a national championship game on one occurrence; the women's hockey team made it to the national championship game in 2021, but lost 2–1 in overtime to the Wisconsin Badgers. 2009 Northeastern Huskies Football Team
The 2009 Northeastern Huskies football team represented Northeastern University in the 2009 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Northeastern competed as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) under head football coach Rocky Hager and played their home games at Parsons Field. The 2009 campaign was the final year that Northeastern fielded a football team. Colonial Athletic Association
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I whose full members are located in East Coast states from Massachusetts to South Carolina. Most of its members are public universities, and the conference is headquartered in Richmond. The CAA was historically a Southern conference until the addition of four schools in the Northeast (of five that joined from rival conference America East) after the turn of the 21st century, which added geographic balance to the conference. The CAA was founded in 1979 as the ECAC South basketball league. It was renamed the Colonial Athletic Association in 1985 when it added championships in other sports (although a number of members maintain ECAC affiliation in some sports). As of 2006, it organizes championships in 21 men's and women's sports. Rocky Hager
Ralph Earl "Rocky" Hager III (born August 29, 1951) is American football coach and former player. Rocky is currently retired from coaching as of the 2021 football season. His final stop on his storied career was an assistant coach at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). He served as the head football coach at North Dakota State University from 1987 to 1996 and at Northeastern University from 2004 until 2009, after which the school dropped their football program. He was also the interim head football coach at TCNJ for the 2016 season. Hager won two NCAA Division II Football Championships at North Dakota State, in 1988 and 1990. Hager is a native of Harvey, North Dakota and a 1974 graduate of Minot State College. Rocky has three children with his wife Peggy: Tiffanee, Rebecca, and Joshua. The 2002 Fordham Rams football team was an American football team that represented Fordham University during the 2002 NCAA Division I-AA football season. Fordham tied for first in the Patriot League before losing in the second round of the national playoffs. In their fourth year under head coach Dave Clawson, the Rams compiled a 10–3 record. Rhamel Brown, Chris Rhodes and John San Marco were the team captains. The Rams outscored opponents 407 to 201. Their 6–1 conference record earned the co-championship of the eight-team Patriot League. 2002 Northeastern Huskies Football Team
The 2002 Northeastern Huskies football team represented Northeastern University during the 2002 NCAA Division I-AA football season. It was the program's 67th season and they finished as Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) co-champions with Maine. Picked to finish 10th in the conference preseason poll, the Huskies went on to set school records for single season overall wins (10) and conference wins (7). They also upset favored Division I-A opponent Ohio 31–0, a marquee win in Northeastern's football program's history. Don Brown (American Football Coach)
Don Brown (born July 31, 1955) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), a position he held from 2004 to 2008 and resumed prior to the 2022 season. In between his two stints as UMass, Brown was the defensive coordinator at the University of Maryland, College Park, the University of Connecticut, Boston College, the University of Michigan, and the University of Arizona. He served as the head football coach at Plymouth State University from 1993 to 1995 and Northeastern University from 2000 to 2003. Brown was also the interim head baseball coach at Yale University in 1992, tallying a mark of 26–10. Atlantic 10 Conference
The Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) is a collegiate athletic conference whose schools compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I. The A-10's member schools are located in states mostly on the United States Eastern Seaboard, as well as some in the Midwest: Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri as well as in the District of Columbia. Although some of its members are state-funded, half of its membership is made up of private, Catholic institutions. Yankee Conference
The Yankee Conference was a collegiate sports conference in the eastern United States. From 1947 to 1976, it sponsored competition in many sports, but was a football-only league from mid-1976 until its dissolution in 1996. It is essentially the ancestor of today's Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) football conference, and the continuation of the New England Conference, though all three leagues were founded under different charters and are considered separate conferences by the NCAA.
