Nordstrand, Germany
( North Frisian: ''di Ströön'') is a peninsula and former island in North Frisia on the North Sea coast of Germany. It is part of the Nordfriesland district in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Its area is 50 km² and its population is 2,300. Nordstrand has two municipalities, Nordstrand and smaller Elisabeth-Sophien-Koog, which are part of the ''Amt'' Nordsee-Treene. In medieval times Nordstrand was a part of the larger island of Strand, which was torn into pieces in a disastrous storm tide in 1634. More than 6,000 people drowned. Before 1634 the area of the island was about . Other remnants of Strand are Pellworm and some Halligen islets. Nordstrand is accessible by road over a causeway, which connects to the mainland and was built in 1936. In 1987 the polder Beltringharder Koog was completed, turning the former island into a peninsula. Nordstrand, Norway
Nordstrand () is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. It borders Gamle Oslo in the north, Østensjø in the east and Søndre Nordstrand in the south. The borough is located in the southern part of the city and with a population of 52,459 people as of 2020. In 2004, Nordstrand was merged with two other boroughs, Lambertseter and Ekeberg-Bekkelaget, to form what is today known simply as Nordstrand. First and second generation immigrants make up 14.6% of the population, which is the lowest percentage in the entire city. Nordstrand Church
Nordstrand Church is a church in Oslo, Norway. The church was consecrated in 1866 as ''Østre Aker Chapel'' and was later renamed ''Sæter Chapel''. In 1905 the Nordstrand congregation was established, and the following year the church changed its name again to Nordstrand Church. The church was built in red brick in neo-Gothic style by architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. Nordstrand Idrettsforening is a sports club in Nordstrand, Oslo, Norway. The club has sections for alpine skiing, association football and handball. It formerly had sections for orienteering, track and field and Nordic skiing. The club colors are white and blue. Nordstrand Station ( no, Nordstrand stasjon) is a railway station on the Østfold Line. It is located in the Nordstrand, Norway, Nordstrand borough of Oslo, Norway. Situated from Oslo Central Station (Oslo S), it features an island platform. Nordstrand is served by the Line L2 of the Oslo Commuter Rail, providing two services each hour. The station opened on 31 May 1880, a year after the Østfold Line. The station allowed the area to be opened up for residences and commuting.
