Norddal
Norddal is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It merged with Stordal municipality to establish the new Fjord municipality in 2020. It covered the easternmost part of the Sunnmøre region along the border with Oppland county. The municipal center of the municipality was the village of Sylte (also known as ''Valldal'') in the Valldalen valley. Norddal covered an area with several distinct valleys and villages: Eidsdal and Norddal (Dalsbygda) in the south; Tafjord in the east; and Fjørå/Selboskarbygda and Sylte in the Valldalen valley in the north. Norwegian County Road 63 traverses the municipality from south to north, going through several tunnels in the mountains including the Stordal Tunnel. The Heggur Tunnel connects the isolated village of Tafjord with the rest of the municipality. Norddal Church
Norddal Church ( no, Norddal kyrkje), also known as Dale Church ( no, Dale kyrkje), is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Norddal Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Norddal, on the south side of the Norddalsfjorden. It is one of the two churches for the Norddal parish which is part of the Nordre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal style in 1784 using plans drawn up by a local farmer, Ole Larssen Døving. The church seats about 300 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church in Norddal date back to 1432, but the church was already existing on that date. Norwegian County Road 63
Norwegian County Road 63 ( no, Fylkesvei 63 or ) is a Norwegian county road in Møre og Romsdal county and a very small part in Innlandet county, Norway. It begins at Norwegian National Road 15 along the lake Langvatnet in Skjåk Municipality in Innlandet county and it heads north where it ends at the junction with the European route E136 highway near the town of Åndalsnes in Rauma Municipality, Møre og Romsdal county. The route runs for including a single ferry crossing over the Norddalsfjorden. The vast majority of the road is in Møre og Romsdal county, only the southernmost lie in the extreme western part of Innlandet county. Both the Langvatnet– Geiranger and Trollstigen sections of the road are closed during winter and spring (usually early November to late May) due to the weather conditions (snow and avalanches). Norddal (village)
Norddal or Dalsbygda is a village in Fjord Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located in a valley with steep mountains on each side, on the southern shore of the Norddalsfjorden. Norddal is about east of the village of Eidsdal and about across the fjord to the south of the municipal centre of Valldal. Norddal is home to Norddal Church and some 150 permanent residents. Eidsdal is a village and valley in Fjord Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located along the south side of the Norddalsfjorden, about southwest of the municipal centre of Sylte and the village of Norddal lies about east of Eidsdal. Tafjord
Tafjord is a village in Fjord Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is in a valley located at the end of the Tafjorden, about southeast of the municipal centre of Sylte, and just west of the borders of Reinheimen National Park. In the park, the mountains Tordsnose, Karitinden, and Puttegga all lie about to the southeast of Tafjord in the Tafjordfjella mountain range. The village is very isolated and (other than by boat) the only way into the valley is by road from the village of Sylte. Stordal is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It merged with Norddal municipality to establish the new Fjord municipality in 2020. It was part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Stordal. The historic farm and museum of Ytste Skotet lies along the Storfjorden in the western part of the municipality.
