Louisiana Highway 15 (LA 15) is a state highway located in central and northern Louisiana. It runs in a north–south direction from the junction of LA 1 and LA 970 in Lettsworth to the concurrent U.S. Highways 63 and 167 in Lillie. The middle portion of the route, extending from Ferriday to just north of Mangham, is co-signed with US 425 and is a major four-lane highway through the area. Route description LA 15 begins at a junction with LA 1 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The highway heads north and crosses several bridges spanning various channels of the Old River Control Structure. LA 15 parallels the Mississippi River through a remote rural section of Concordia Parish before reaching junctions with US 84 and US 425 in Ferriday. German submarine ''U-166'' was a Type IXC U-boat of Nazi Germany's '' Kriegsmarine'' during World War II. The submarine was laid down on 6 December 1940 at the Seebeckwerft (part of Deutsche Schiff- und Maschinenbau AG, Deschimag) at Wesermünde (modern Bremerhaven) as yard number 705, launched on 1 November 1941, and commissioned on 23 March 1942 under the command of ''Oberleutnant zur See'' Hans-Günther Kuhlmann. After training with the 4th U-boat Flotilla, ''U-166'' was transferred to the 10th U-boat Flotilla for front-line service on 1 June 1942. Leander Perez
Leander Henry Perez Sr. (July 16, 1891 – March 19, 1969) was the Democratic political boss of Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes in southeastern Louisiana during the middle third of the 20th century. Officially, he served as a district judge, later as district attorney, and as president of the Plaquemines Parish Commission Council. He was known for leading efforts to enforce and preserve segregation. Early life and education Perez was born in the community of Dalcour, on the east bank of Plaquemines Parish, to Roselius E. "Fice" Perez (died 1939) and the former Gertrude Solis (died 1944). The Perez and Solis families were Isleños, an ethnic community descended from settlers from the Canary Islands, Spain. Perez was educated in New Orleans schools, Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, and the Tulane University Law School in New Orleans. Pointe à la Hache ( ) is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, United States.
