Anchorage, Kentucky
Anchorage is a home rule-class city in eastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,348 at the 2010 census and an estimated 2,432 in 2018. It is a suburb of Louisville. History The land that is now Anchorage was a part of Isaac Hite's 1773 land grant, which awarded most of the land in today's Jefferson County to officers in the Virginia militia, in exchange for their service in the French and Indian War. Early maps refer to the area as "Hite's Mill", and it has also been known as "Hobbs Station". Part of Hite's original grant now makes up the grounds of Central State Hospital and E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. The nautical name is a bit odd, considering the city is over from the Ohio River. The origin is The Anchorage, the estate of riverboat captain and early resident James W. Kentucky Route 22 (KY 22) is a east–west highway running from the eastern suburbs of Louisville to an unincorporated place called Willow in Bracken County in Northern Kentucky. Route 22 has a short business route in Dry Ridge, an area which has become a commercial center as an I-75 exit. It begins at US 42 at the city limit of a Louisville suburb called Northfield, Kentucky, and carries the name Brownsboro Road, a local road which begins near Downtown Louisville. Kentucky Route 53
Kentucky Route 53 (KY 53) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Kentucky. Route description The route begins at an intersection with KY 555 south of Willisburg and heads northeast through the city. It continues northeast into Anderson County and intersects the Martha Layne Collins Blue Grass Parkway. Just south of Beaver Lake KY 53 turns toward the northwest and forms a concurrency with US 62. Further north in Glensboro, it forms a concurrency with KY 44 and continues northwest, briefly passing through Spencer County before entering Shelby County. In Shelby County, the route passes through Mount Eden and heads northwest into Shelbyville. In Shelbyville, KY 53 intersects Interstate 64 as well as US 60.
