Nabeul Governorate
Nabeul Governorate ( aeb, ولاية نابل ' Tunisian pronunciation: ) is one of the 24 governorates of Tunisia. It is situated in north-eastern Tunisia. It covers an area of 2,788 km2 and has a population of 787,920 (2014 census). The capital is Nabeul. Nabeul Governorate forms a peninsula which is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea on three sides, excepting only the south-west side where it is delimited by the three governorates of Zaghouan, Sousse and Ben Arous. History Nabeul, the main city of the governorate, was founded in the 5th century BC by the Greeks of Cyrene, serving as a trade port. Its name is an Arabised form of the Greek ''Neapolis'' 'new city' (an etymology it shares with Naples, Neapoli, and Nablus). Tunisia is divided into 24 governorate, governorates (''wilayat'', sing. ''wilayah''). This term in Arabic can also be translated as province or federated state (though the latter does not apply, as Tunisia is a unitary state). The governorates are divided into 264 Delegations of Tunisia, delegations (''mutamadiyat''), and further subdivided into municipality, municipalities (''baladiyat''), and sectors (''imadats''). Hammamet, Tunisia
Hammamet ( ar, حمامات ', literally " Baths") is a town in Tunisia. Thanks to its beaches, it is a popular destination for swimming and water sports and is one of the primary tourist destinations in Tunisia. It is located in the south-eastern section of Cap Bon and is part of the Nabeul Governorate. The reported number of inhabitants varies from 100,000 to 400,000 and the population quadruples due to tourists' arrival in the summer. It is particularly known for jasmine, which is the namesake of the tourist resort of Yasmine Hammamet. All over Hammamet, souvenirs crafted from jasmine can be found. Dar Châabane El Fehri
Dar Chaabane (full name Dar Chaabane El Fehri) is a town and a commune in the Nabeul Governorate, Tunisia on the coast of Cap Bon. In 2014, its population was 42,140. The municipality is the result of a merger in 1957 between the town of El Fehri located on the coast and the town of Dar Chaabane located in the hinterland. Covering 3500 hectares, the city is one of the biggest towns of the peninsula of Cap Bon. History Dar Chaabane was founded in the year 53 AH (7th century) by Chaabane Mechmech, a warlord of the Muslim Army in the Cap Bon region. He built a citadel in the town around which members of his family came to live, whence the name of Dar Chaabane or "the House of Chaabane". Béni Khalled
Béni Khalled is a town and commune in the west of Nabeul Governorate, Tunisia, about 42 km from the capital Tunis. As of 2004 it had a population of 12,573. Béni Khalled is considered an important agricultural town in the region due to its citrus fruit production; it contributes by about 45% of the total of the national export. It also produces a high percentage of multiple strategic crops including grapes, potatoes and spices as well as raising livestock, milk production and beekeeping.
