Molluginaceae
The Molluginaceae are a family of flowering plants recognized by several taxonomists. It was previously included in the larger family Aizoaceae. The APG III system of 2009 made no change in the status of the family as compared to the APG II system of 2003 and the APG system of 1998, apart from a reassignment of several genera, such as the placement of ''Corrigiola'' and '' Telephium'' into Caryophyllaceae, '' Corbichonia'' in Lophiocarpaceae, '' Microtea'' into Microteaceae and '' Limeum'' in Limeaceae, because the family was found to be widely polyphyletic in Caryophyllales. In addition ''Macarthuria'' was found not to be related to '' Limeum'' as previously thought and thus it was placed in Macarthuriaceae, and similarly species formerly placed in ''Hypertelis'', apart from type species ''Hypertelis spergulacea'', a true Molluginaceae, were found to belong elsewhere and were described as '' Kewa'' in the family Kewaceae, named for the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. Caryophyllales
Caryophyllales ( ) is a diverse and heterogeneous order of flowering plants that includes the cacti, carnations, amaranths, ice plants, beets, and many carnivorous plants. Many members are succulent, having fleshy stems or leaves. The betalain pigments are unique in plants of this order and occur in all its families with the exception of Caryophyllaceae and Molluginaceae. Description The members of Caryophyllales include about 6% of eudicot species. This order is part of the core eudicots. Currently, the Caryophyllales contains 37 families, 749 genera, and 11,620 species The monophyly of the Caryophyllales has been supported by DNA sequences, cytochrome c sequence data and heritable characters such as anther wall development and vessel-elements with simple perforations. Circumscription As with all taxa, the circumscription of Caryophyllales has changed within various classification systems. All systems recognize a core of families with centrospermous ovules and seeds. Mor ...

Hypertelis
''Hypertelis'' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Molluginaceae. Most of its former species have been transferred to the new genus '' Kewa'', and the remaining species, ''Hypertelis spergulacea'', may also need a different placement. ''Hypertelis spergulacea'' is a woody-based plant, up to high, with whorled greyish green leaves. It is found on the border between Namibia and the Northern Cape province of South Africa. Description ''Hypertelis spergulacea'' grows to about high, woody at the base with softer ascending stems. The lower leaves are crowded together and fleshy; further up the stem the leaves are arranged in well spaced whorls of five to ten. The individual leaves are narrowly linear, hairless (glabrous) and greyish green in colour. The inflorescence is somewhat umbellate, with individual flowers borne on long thin stems (pedicels). The flowers have 20–30 stamens, most united at the base into 3–5 groups. The seeds are black and shiny. Taxonomy The genus ...

Kewa (plant)
''Kewa'' is a genus of flowering plants, consisting of eight species of succulent sub-woody plants, native to eastern and southern Africa, including Saint Helena and Madagascar. These are small shrubs or herbs that form cushions and have edible, acid-tasting leaves. ''Kewa'' is the only genus in the family Kewaceae. The species were formerly included in the genus ''Hypertelis'' of the family Molluginaceae, but molecular studies have shown that most species did not belong there, but were rather distantly related to Molluginaceae, being placed in a clade comprising Aizoaceae, Gisekiaceae and Barbeuiaceae. Only the type species ''Hypertelis spergulacea'' remains in Molluginaceae; all others are transferred to the genus ''Kewa'', which was named for Kew, where the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew are situated. Species Species transferred to ''Kewa'' from ''Hypertelis'' in 2014 were: *''Kewa acida'' (Hook.f.) Christenh. – Saint Helena *''Kewa angrae-pequenae'' (Friedrich) Christenh. – N ...

Macarthuriaceae
Macarthuriaceae is a family of plants in the order Caryophyllales and consists of a single genus, ''Macarthuria''. Description Macarthuriaceae are rigid or wiry, rush-like herbs or subshrubs with green stems and reduced leaves. The small flowers have five perianth members, sometimes also five "petals", and eight stamens fused at the base. Taxonomy In 2009, ''Macarthuria'' was placed with ''Limeum'' in the Limeaceae, based on its morphology, but at that time no molecular material of ''Macarthuria'' had been examined. Prior to this, Endress and Bittrich had placed it in the family Molluginaceae. However, in 2011, molecular evidence was published, showing that ''Macarthuria'' is sister to all core Caryophyllales. Thus, ''Macarthuria ''Macarthuria'' is a genus of dicotyledonous plants belonging to the family Macarthuriaceae, and consists of about 9 species which are endemic to Australia. Description Plants in the genus, ''Macarthuria'', are rigid or wiry herbs or subshrubs. .. ...

Telephium
''Telephium'' are a genus of flowering plants in the family Molluginaceae or Caryophyllaceae, found in Mediterranean parts of Europe, Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and western Asia. They are annual or perennial herbs, sometimes becoming woody at their bases. Together with ''Corrigiola'' they form the tribe Corrigioleae. ''Limeum'' is a genus of flowering plants. It includes 25 species. ''Limeum'' has traditionally been recognized as belonging to the Molluginaceae family, but is now treated as the sole genus in the family Limeaceae.
