Mistral One Design
The Mistral One Design Class (MOD) is a one-design racing, one-design windsurfing class chosen by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) for use at the Olympic regatta in Sailing at the 1996 Summer Olympics#Medal summary, Atlanta 1996, Sailing at the 2000 Summer Olympics, Sydney 2000 and Sailing at the 2004 Summer Olympics#Medal summary, Athens 2004. Starting with the 2008 Summer Olympics it was replaced by the RS:X class, which was replaced by the iQFoil class for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Description The MOD was first designed in 1989. Worldwide,more than 30,000 have been built since. They are light and tough. In the right hands, they can be sailed in windspeeds ranging from depending on sea conditions. Barbara Kendall
Barbara Anne Kendall (born 30 August 1967) is a former boardsailor from New Zealand. She competed at five Summer Olympic Games and won gold, silver and bronze medals. Biography Kendall was born in Papakura on 30 August 1967, the daughter of Tony and Peggy Kendall. She was raised in the Auckland suburb of Bucklands Beach and attended Macleans College. She won a gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, silver medal in 1996 (in Atlanta, Georgia), and a bronze medal in 2000 (in Sydney). Kendall finished 5th at the 2004 Games in Athens and sixth at the 2008 Games in Beijing. She was the first, and as of 2008. (She has since been joined by Valerie Adams, Tokyo 2021. Gal Fridman
Gal Fridman (or Friedman, ; born September 16, 1975) is an Israeli windsurfer and Israel's first Olympic gold medalist. Fridman won a bronze medal in the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics, and a gold medal in the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics. He is the first of two Israelis athletes to win two Olympic Medals, and the first Olympic Gold medalist in Israeli history. His first name, Gal, means "wave" in Hebrew. He was born in Karkur, Israel, and lives close to the water in Sdot Yam, a nearby kibbutz. Early life and career Fridman was born in Karkur, Israel, to an Ashkenazi Jewish family.
