The Rural Municipality of Miry Creek No. 229 ( 2016 population: ) is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within Census Division No. 8 and Division No. 3. History The RM of Miry Creek No. 229 incorporated as a rural municipality on January 1, 1913. The first homestead occurred in 1907. The Canadian Pacific Railway expanded westward in the RM from Cabri in 1913. A rural municipality is created by the Minister of Municipal Relations by ministerial order via section 49 of ''The Municipalities Act''. Saskatchewan has 296 rural municipalities, which are located in the central and southern portions of the province. They had a cumulative population of and an average population of in the 2016 Census of Population. Saskatchewan's largest and smallest rural municipalities are the RM of Corman Park No. 344 and the RM of Glen McPherson No. 46 with populations of 8,568 and 72 respectively.
