The Ministry of Defense is (MoD; Arabic: وزارة الدفاع) is a government ministry of Yemen that is responsible for the Yemen Armed Forces. The current minister of defense is Lt. Gen. Mohsen Mohammed al-Daeri, who was appointed on 28 July 2022. The main headquarters of the Ministry is in Sana'a. Authority According to the constitution of Yemen, the President of Yemen serves as the commander-in-chief of Yemen Armed Forces and is responsible for appointing the defense minister. On 19 December 2012, President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, issued a presidential decree to restructure the armed forces into five main branches: the air force and the air defense, the Navy and coastal defense, the land forces, the border guard, and the strategic reserve. 4th Military Region (Yemen)
The Fourth Military Region is a military region of Armed Forces of Yemen. Its headquarters locates in Aden city, the interim capital of Yemen. History The 4th region was established in 2013 as part of the military restructuring by former president Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi who issued a republication decree to divide the military field into seven regions, including the Fourth Military Region. National Defence Council () is a governmental body in charge of coordinating Yemen's national security and defense strategy. It was formed by President Ali Abdullah Saleh on 20 August 1991. Major general Mahmoud al-Subaihi ( ar, محمود الصبيحي) is a Yemeni military officer. He served in the cabinet of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi as defence minister. In the Yemen Army, he holds the rank of major general. He was appointed to head the Ministry of Defence by Prime Minister Khaled Bahah in November 2014. Biography al-Subaihi was born in 1948 in Huwaireb, Al Madaribah Wa Al Arah District, Lahij Governorate. He had a bachelor's degree in military science from the military academy in Aden in 1976, then he studied Master's in the Soviet Union from 1978 to 1982. Mohammed Nasser Ahmed ( ar, محمد ناصر أحمد ; born 1950) is a Yemeni major general, who was the defense minister of Yemen between 2006 and 2014. Education Ahmed was born on 1 January 1950 in Na`ab, Mudiyah District, Abyan Governorate. He holds a master's degree in military science. Career Ahmed served in various capacities in Yemeni army and ministry of defense until 1994. That year he became director of logistics and supply. He later joined the Congress Party. He was appointed defense minister by President Ali Abdullah Saleh in February 2006. He succeeded Abdullah Ali Alewa in the post. Dhamar ( ar, ذَمَار, Ḏamār), also spelt ''Thamar'', is a governorate of Yemen. It is located to the south and southeast of Sana'a Governorate, to the north of Ibb Governorate, to the east of Al Hudaydah Governorate and to the northwest of Al Bayda' Governorate in the central highlands of Yemen.
