Michael Rea (born April 4, 1960) better known by his stage name Michael Ray or M. Ray, is an American guitarist, songwriter and record producer, not to be confused with Michael Roach Ray the country singer. Michael Ray was the lead guitarist for the punk rock band Plasmatics and for Wendy O. Williams solo projects. He also worked with hard rock band Kiss and toured with the English rock band Motörhead. Early life Ray was born in Queens, NY in 1960. He grew up in Woodhaven, New York and attended Beach Channel High School. He was discovered by Gene Simmons at My Father's Place, a club on Long Island in 1982 at the age of 22. Career In the year 1982, Michael Ray auditioned for the band ''Kiss'' as the replacement of Ace Frehley. He recorded guitar solos for the album ''Creatures of the Night'' at Record Plant Studios, New York. Michael Ray Roach (born April 29, 1988) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He is signed to Warner Music Nashville. He has released two albums for the label: '' Michael Ray'' and ''Amos''. Biography Ray was born in Eustis, Florida. He was inspired by his grandfather Amos "Wilson" Roach, who played music for him and taught him how to play guitar, in addition to having him perform at assisted living centers. Ray chose to form a band in southern Florida after graduating high school, and a disc jockey at WPCV began playing his music. He independently released an album in 2010, which was discovered by manager Tony Conway. Ray was mentored by John Rich of Big & Rich on the singing competition '' The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep'', which he won. He and Rich co-wrote Big & Rich's 2015 single, " Run Away with You". ''Michael Ray'' is the debut studio album by the American country music artist of the same name, and his second overall. It was released on August 7, 2015 via Atlantic Nashville. The lead single, "Kiss You in the Morning", was a number one hit on the US ''Billboard'' Country Airplay chart. Content Ray has writing credits on only one song on his debut, "Run Away with You", which he co-wrote with John Rich who first recorded the song as part of Big & Rich for their 2014 album, ''Gravity''.
